Hey just to let ya know, that chain cut fine!!!

It's a .325 RM on a ms250, and I am about to use the 250 for target practice LOL.... the damn thing has an oiler issue and it's driving me nuts.... when I rebuilt the saw I put an aftermarket oiler in it and it worked fine....however, I made some test cuts last night and could tell it wasn't working....

I am thinking it is an issue with how far the oiler is seated into position.... I don't have the correct "stihl" tool that automatically seats the oiler.... basically, on goes this ms250 saga(can't wait to fix and sell this damn thing!!!)
There will be someone on this site that can help you. Go post that question in the rite place and you will get help. There's some great mechanics on here.

Oh yes, I have been very lucky to meet ALOT of good people on here!!!

I guess I am a glutton for punishment or maybe stubborn, can't decide but I will figure that damn ms250 out I promise you that....

Hey I will get a pic of my set-up today.... my work bench looks like a tornado went threw a hoarders garage at the moment, but I will clean it eventually LOL!!!

Hey if you get a chance snap some pics of the chains you have ground, I like to compare to other people grinding methods.... I think it helps give us ideas on ways to constantly improve!!!

I'll try, I'm grinding square today. You should get into that after you get round grinding down.

Oh and I thought I should tell you guys this.... I picked up a 024 yesterday(damn clean and for $40 with B&C), and went to a local dealer to get parts.... well on my way out I seen groups of chain with tags in them.... well being curious, I had to check them out.... sure enough they were chains that were ground at this dealer for their customers.... WOW, they were sad looking to say the least.... Hell some of the chains had burnt cutters!!!!.... I thought to myself, wow even the first chain I ground wasn't this bad!!!

Next time I go there I am going to ask what kind of grinder they use and how much they charge.... obviously I won't say anything about their poor grinding methods, but I do wish I could take their customers!!!!!:firedevil:

That's funny you say that.... I damn near ordered the files before, but never did....I got so much on my plate now I thought I better not dive into that yet LOL...

So do you have a grinder that only grinds square???

I'll show you a pic of my chain, yes it's a grinder that only does square. Files take to long, don't get me wrong, files do a great job. Here's a cutter I just did.
Damn man looks great!!!!

What brand is your square grinder....I can't imaging barely touching the tie strap like that would hurt anything.....

I have never ran a square ground chain in my life, would love to try one!!!!

Does the edge last as long a regular chisel chain????

Square grinding is simpler, but the downside to it, your customers will find it tough to sharpen without bringing them back to you.
You can find grinders either thru simington, eBay or Craig's.
I bought one last week thru eBay. I'm gonna put a very abrasive wheel on it. To help with going from round to square or heavy rocked chains. Then put back on mine with a less abrasive wheel.

Gray waxed won't burn cutters but don't last long.
I'm ordering some from madsens Monday. I'm grinding some chain now. Have 4 out of six looking great. But this one Stihl chain is pretty bad off. And I'm having to take to much off a few cutters to make them match.
Thanks for the advice, grey one it is

Interesting chain stop. Haven't seen one like that before. What kind of grinder do you have?

You can get all your information here. These guys are great at it, and they are really great to help you.
There's no money at sharpening chains. None.
Ya, I haven't had any bites yet.... if a guy could get hooked up with a tree company it would be great.... I will not mention the guys name but he is within and hour drive from me...he got hooked up withbtree services and another big company and he does 1500-2000 chains a month.... the guys pays his ALL his house bills with grinding!!!....he even has a GOOD full-time job LOL

Yes I have seen a square grinder here and there....If I get one right now, the price would have to be a steal.... Hell if you asked someone around me if they wanted their chain ground square, they would look at you like an alien , grab their chains and run to their truck LMAO!!!!
