I know that the hydraulic clamps are popular, but I have been happy with the manual clamp system. Simpler, with fewer things to go wrong
The older I get, the more I notice my things going wrong; easier to replace the parts on a super jolly for me, although I haven't had to yet.

Well as some of you may know I just got a Oregons 520 grinder.... I think I will be very happy with it, seems like a tough machine....

Anyway, I know there are grinder threads discussing many difderent topics.....I figured we could just have one thread were people that are new to grinding (like me), can ask questions and post pics so you guys that have been grinding for years can jump in and help if you would like....

Maybe you have been grinding for years and just happened to find a trick or a perfect angle for a certain chain and you want to share it with everyone else!!!!

I for one would like to thank all of you guys that have helped me personally and helped others....it sure does give a guy a great head start when he gets good help!!!!
Hey all. I’m new to the site as well. And I have a zeigelmeyer chisel chain grinder that I’m having a hard time figure out with all the different adjustments can anyone help me out on this? Also if I can’t figure it out I’m going to buy something simpler and put the zeigelmyer up for sale.

Okay guys it’s official. I decided to buy a new grinder. I bought the T&s professional chisel grinder. See if that is easier for me to understand being a new grinder. With that being said my zeigelmyer is for sale. I have no idea what they are worth but if any of you guys are interested let me know. It’s fully functional and in working order. I have pictures of it. If someone is interested let me know and I’ll send you my email and we can go from there. Thanks guys

I ground a bunch of chains at 25/10/55 I am going to cut with them this weekend. Some are Husky chains and some Oregon, interested in seeing the difference or if it even makes a difference being the same angles on the grind. Forgot the pics but I will grab some tomorrow.

I would start a new thread (in several different places). Those things are rare as hen's teeth. Price should probably reflect that? I have only heard of a few, and they weren't for sale. How did you obtain yours?

“Does anyone know oregon 520 accept hydraulic system from 620? here is not us, no 620 or tecomec super jolly.”

Good question.

Lots of parts: vise assembly, cylinders, hoses, . . . Not sure about mounting the cylinder operated by the grinding head.

Easier to go the other way (remove the hydraulic cylinders and clamp manually).

I know that the hydraulic clamps are popular, but I have been happy with the manual clamp system. Simpler, with fewer things to go wrong.

i figured out it can't due to the shape of slide base fit in. thanks

I put a new hydraulic unit on mine and have the same light clamp issue i had with the old unit. I guess the original might not have been bad.
You can pull the nob off the front that adjust for the different sizes, and there is an adjustment under it iirc. It also centers the cutters, iirc. It's been a while since I've messed with the adjustments on mine. Shouldn't be long and I'll get it in the new saw shop.
