I haven't switched to the CBN wheels for my round grinder yet, but seriously considering it after reading this thread. Have you guys tried using one of these erasure bricks for cleaning your wheels pink or CBN before?

Ya I pretty much have myself talked into one, just need to narrow down which brand I will get.....

I will probably go with the Diamond Brand Co. CBN wheel.... seems like this is the wheel that most people use and seems like they all like it a lot!!!!!

The cbn at Diamond Wheels have never been on sale. Always $106 I think. Break the piggy bank or keep using what you have been. The cutters you pictured looked great.

Hey thanks a lot, you guys know I have been trying to get to know this grinder....I love it, I believe I keep getting better with each chain I grind!!!

Yes, it is hard to pay that for one wheel, but all the benefits it has is what makes it worth it....I can only imagine how nice it would be to never have to shape the wheel again!!!

Do you have the Diamond Wheel brand of CBN wheel.....and how long have you had it.....I know we talked about the wheels before, but I can't remember how long you have had yours.....

Yes Diamond Wheel. 4 or 5 years. If I have a really junked chain, I'll use pink wheel. I only do my own a couple friends.

I got both small and big cbn. Unreal how much you can hog out if the chain is rocked. The cutter never gets smoked either. Let alone, from tooth to tooth you keep the same wheel shape, never any wear like pink.

Only used Diamond wheel brand. CBN and diamond coated. Tried to have them make a prosharp wheel but they did not seem interested or understood what I wanted.
Do you like the CBN wheel from them.... have you done a lot of chains with yours....

Oh hey I just realized this was you LOL Sam-tip!!!!

Also I just looked and the diamond brand only sells the super-abrasive wheels...

Yes I have heard people say it takes a lot to burn a cutter with them, which is a huge help on bad chains!!!!

So it's safe to say you really like the diamond brand CBN wheel????

Done a bunch for a home owner. But nothing near like a saw shop. Loving the 620 hydraulic assist on new grinder. Way faster than 511ax on long chains. Don't know if Diamond Wheel makes different grits for chainsaw wheels. I feel you don't need a different grit.

Sounds like a good idea to go over a real bad chain once with the pink wheel, then do final pass with the CBN wheel...

Does the CBN wheel leave about the same or a better finish than the pink wheels???

I know you grind square too.... do you like to use round ground for work/firewood chains, or do you use square all the time????

Those rubber sticks are for cleaning sawdust, etc., out of abrasive belts or discs (sandpaper), which tend to get filled up over time. They don't 'sharpen' the abrasive.

The carborundum dressing brick used on vitrified wheels (any color) breaks away worn, dull, abrasive particles, exposing fresh, sharp, abrasive.

You are overthinking this.

The ABN/CBN wheels are designed to reduce overheating / burning and the generation of the abrasive dust from a vitrified wheel. If you want a smoother final finish, you need to go to a finer abrasive grit - whatever kind of wheel that you are using.

Square is more for play/tinkering. But lots of times its the only chain that isn't dull so you use it. I cut tree service logs/trunks/stumps so always hitting something. Makes for plenty of grinding. If I can cut more than one or two tanks on a chain wow its a good day. Its more like how many cuts can I make on a 30 to 60" log before dull. One log was 1/2 a cut and 4 chains dull. Concrete in the middle! Just got in my first roll of 404 (27AX) semi chisel. So maybe three tanks might be possible. The chains I do most are 72LGX or 68JX/59 . But cutting fast with square is very fun! They say 25% faster.

I only grind with CBN wheels for round. Faster then the pink wheels. Don't have the time to grind with one wheel then switch to another wheel and regrind.
