Well, I tried my CBN for the first time. I like it so far. The side of the cutter looks good, though it feels like its got some tiny burs, don't know if thats normal, the top plate angle looks good and the side plate cleaned up nice with the wheel. Gullet looked nice as well. I dont have an adjustable side plate angle so that made me happy. And it is sharp as hell. I like the fact that I don't have to dress the wheel after each sharpening even. All in all, I like it. I took some pics but the didn't turn out because of lighting and my ipad is not the best to take pics. I'll try my phone.
Well sounds like you like it @trooney..... big question, how does it cut.... sounds like it will cut great!!!!

By the picture looks like it leaves a good finish!!!

Finally put my 520 together and have it mounted temporarily. Once I get the hang of it, I think it will be nice not to have to hand file everything and trash rocked chains. No one around here sharpens chains.
Hey man you will love it.... just take your time at first there are a lot of things to keep in mind.... as these guys told me, just lightly hit the cutter with gentle "taps", and you won't burn them....

Let us know how it goes... also post pics of the cutters, these guys never made fun of my first few chains!!!!

You will get a lot of constructive criticism, which will in turn make you better, faster....good luck and can't wait to see your chains and hear how they cut for you!!!!

Your cutter looks great, how does the wheel do on dirty, oiled chains? Does it stay clean? I been wanting a cbn wheel for awhile now. Just waiting on someone with some honest feedback.
Thanks again

Lol, I told @trooney, "hey man if you like your CBN wheel I may have to get me one LOL!!!".

I mean even if a fella ONLY does his own chains for the rest of his life, you would be money ahead getting a CBN wheel.....don't get me wrong I have no complaints about the pink wheels, but how nice would it be for a wheel to "hold" it's shape all the time???.....

Who knows I could still be subconsciously talking myself into one?!?!?

Silvey 300. It came with a diamond wheel. It worked great for taking chains back.
Nice, did that silvey 300 turn out a nice round ground chain....

I have been back and forth about getting one....in reality I do believe if a guys was goin to get one, it would pay to just buy it right off the bat....obviously you want to use the pink wheels to "learn the basics", but if they last as long as stated a guy would save money over buying 3-4 pink Oregon wheels....

I think so. I mainly used it for taking teeth back to square grind or file.

They will plug up just like the pink wheels do if you are grinding filthy chains.

Spray it off with brake clean once in a while to get it back to like new again. You will know when it needs it as the cutters will start to burn easier.

Yeah, I am. gotta get yourself one. I don't think you'll be disappointed. haven't cut a dirty, oily chain yet. Don't really plan on it. So I don't have an opinion on that. But theey'd probably do better than the pink ones

hello sir, thanks for that tip!!!!

Let's say a guy is busy and doesn't want to clean his chains....as long as he sprays off the CBN wheel, will it get it back to normal????

Obviously you have used the CBN wheels, what's your opinions??

I've even used brake cleaner on pink wheels too

Ok here is the stihl RS.... i personally like and think the RS(full chisel) is a lot easier to grind....here are some pics....

Both sets of pics are chains I ground today....this is my personal chain so I just touched it up(you can barely take any material off if you are just careful!!!)... I also took the pic before I did rakers so please only judge the cutter....
