Hey guys why we talking about Oregon chain real quick..... do you guys believe that the 10-degree tilt is necessary to get the Oregon chisel chain cutting correctly....like I said I always use stihl chain so I have never ground any Oregon chain....

What bar and chain do you run on your 024?
Well sir, the 024 doesn't run, yet!!!

Iit is very clean (I will include pics), I was shocked when I got it in me grubby paws.... it has the 18" .325 B&C....I have had some 74DL chain that I received in deals were I buy non-running saws for a long time.... glad I will finally be able to use them....

Not to get off track here, but the saw was missing the back half of the airfilter, no gas line or filter, no throttle linkage, and the top AV is broke... also bought a carb rebuild kit....so I have all parts at house, or in route to my house....all I need it to buy is an airfilter!!!!!

Here is a few pics can't wait to get her going!!!!

Well, how do you guys do your gullets.... I'll go first lol....they way I have been cleaning the gullets is as follows....after I get all the cutters ground as I like, I move the tooth stop back out some and lower the grinder head as deep as I prefer to go in to the gullet...once I double check settings I take to grinding the gullet out...I also use whatever wheel i use on the cutter....

Is there a better way to do this guys....

I file mine. I've not had a grinder in 2.5 years. I may pick up a cheap round grinder just to take cutters back and to fix rocked chains to square file

I like how quick you can clean up the gullet with a grinder....and if you get a chain that hasn't had the gullets touched since it was new, the grinder makes it a lot easier that filing them out.... I just did a 25" RS chain that needed a lot out of the gullets, man I sure did appreciate having the grinder in that one!!!!

Do you use a square grinder a lot, or do you do a lot of hand-filing the square chains?????

Pretty silly, huh? Because I was playing with the different HF type grinders (A.S. thread) I had a total of about a dozen grinders pass through my house this year. Really only need one, if you use one, for personal use. Don't need any if you sharpen another way.

hey, just got it in the mail. Will try it over the weekend and let you know how I like it. It is from Diamond Wheel.
Ok sorry, I have been known to be a "little" impatient LoL...:zpong:

I have heard a lot of good things about the diamond wheel brand....can't wait to see what you think, maybe you can even post a few pics of a finished cutter that you ground with the CBN wheel...:aplastao:

Thanks a lot @trooney!!!!!

Good morning,
Wanna ask you pros for advice. I'm wanting to mount one of my grinders on my bench. But the grinder will stick out. Could a person mount it on a swivel base, to turn it around when not in use? If so, do you have any suggestions?
Thank you

Grinders really need to be higher than a work bench. I plan to build a shallow but tall bench with all three mounted at ~5' off the floor. Top will be only 10-12" deep and I plan to put a surround on it to contain grinding debris a bit. Also a row of LED lights over top as you cannot have enough light grinding.

This top is 48" off floor. Most chains I do will be fine.
I wanted to know if anyone has mounted one on a swivel base. So I can swing it out of the way.

That would still be short for me. A 6'2" my RS2 is set a bit over 5' off the floor and I like it tall. Think wheel at shoulder height.

Swinging one out of the way would have to be one heck of a swivel mechanism to handle the up and down spring movement. You would want it to lock too.. it's easier to mount them to a block of 2x6 screwed on top of 2x3. Makes them easy to clamp in a 4" vise when needed.
