We just dealt with the hurricane that roared up the east coast. No rain here to speak of but 60+ mph gusts. Lots of tree damage. Lots of limbs and a couple of the neighbors trees down in my yard.

I pulled out my 562XP thats been sitting unused for at least 2 years with VP SEF 40:1 sitting in the tank. Choke, purge bulb a few times, decomp in, and on the 3rd pull she coughed and was running on the 4th pull. Cut for about 30-45 minutes in 88° temps and she never skipped a beat.

Cleaned up the mess and then headed to my sister-in-laws to clean up their mess. Topped off the tank and cut for another 30 or so minutes.

That would never have been possible on the pump gas around here. Not sure what the shelf life of the canned stuff is but 2 years sitting says something for how good it really is.

Checked today at my local Menard's: TruFuel was about $5.50 / quart, but $4.98 if you buy 5 or more. The 110 ounce 'not-quite-a-gallon' size sold for about the same price per ounce. It goes on sale periodically.

Frankly, if you would have asked me if pre-mixed fuel would sell for 9 to 10 times the price of mixed pump gas, I would have laughed at you. But I did not think people would buy bottled water like they do either. Maybe that's why I am on this site and not Forbes. . . .

Same here, I remember the first time I saw trufuel in the hardware store, I thought they were crazy. Now with all the ethonal in fuel, it's not so crazy anymore.

I've run VP SEF before. It is good stuff, but pricey as they all are...
Never had an issue with it.

Pricey yes. But having equipment ready to go and start when needed is a huge advantage. Also, not needing to rebuild carbs or replace fuel lines saves too.

If I had hours or days of cutting to do I would use pump mix and then canned before putting them away.

It's not for everyone but it does serve a very good purpose.

I tend to run VP 40:1 in my Husky, but I don't run my saw nearly as hard or often as most here.

I used canned fuels before. Nothing wrong with them.
Daily is pump gas 89-91 e10
Sitting more than a month aviation fuel is my go to.
VP oil 32-1 or 25-1 for storage long term.
The pole saw gets canned gas last run of the fall.

You canned fuel guys must have a lot more money than I do.

It all depends on how often a fella uses his OPE. I go through 5-10 gallons a year, which comes to 75-160 bucks a year. I know people who will spend that drinking every 2 weeks. For me, I'd much rather spend my money on good fuel for my chainsaws, than some of the stuff I see others spend money on.

A friend of mine just starting selling the a VP brand of race fuel. He sells all varieties and they store also sells pre-mix. Anyone here running and of the canned gas? Do you have any issues, likes or dislikes. It obviously costs more then mixing pump gas with premium oil but the vp stuff comes with a 3 year guarantee after its opened.

This stuff is what I would like to try.

Why?

Just curious. I have not done any kind of careful comparison, but have not noticed any significant differences between any of the major brands.

Thanks.

I'm liking Sunoco Optima over VP SEF ............... same price delivered but smells better and seems to run just a hair crisper

Aspen now has a U.S. branch, only retailer listed so far is Oscar Wilson. I've been wanting to try Aspen for a long time now.
