New shop, bad owner...

I have to gripe about a new small engine shop that just opened in my area. We have 4 now 5 stihl dealers in my area and I have a problem with almost every one and thus new one is no different. One has almost no inventory of Stihl products. Next one has dumb employees. Next is way over priced.

The newest one was opened by a mechanic or driver from the pro Moyer sports world. I think he was on a ski-doo team. I wanted to check out his shop and purchase some two cycle mix in a one gal container. He then proceeded to tell me that I should never need anything more then the 50:1 pre measured container. And how mixing richer then 50:1, leanes out the gas ( obviously) and inturn I will have less octane.

I understand he was using his expertise to steer me away from running a rich mix in a stock saw. But he's a salesman now, not a mechanic. And I didn't need a lesson on my equipment when I just walk into your store. If I was having problems, then school me. Otherwise sell me what I want.

mine local here is a good one but stays at suggested price i tell him what im working on and he knows and has ran some of my ported saws i rarely go in there for mix oil but it is where i get bar oil some bars and chains

I go into my local Stihl dealership to buy latex paint and wood screws.....

I only buy Stihl bulk fuel line from mine... That and trailer loads of old saws.

I have a feeling my best bet for buying oem parts and oils are with the shop with dumb employees. They can at least follow the directions when handed model and serial number to acquire correct parts. I may have to wait 2 days to get the simplest parts like recoil rope or crank seals, but they're the least crappiest to deal with.

Have developed a great relationship with 1 of my 3 Stihl dealers. I also have some horror stories about the other dealers id rather not go into. It is a combination of knowledge(part #s and superseded part #s), parts inventory and price being comfortable.
I use all three for truck beds full of parts saws and rebuilds. That has paid for itself many times over. If I had more room to become a hoarder I could easily do it.

Not to resurrect an old thread. But I found a saw shop I can trust. @04ultra runs woodcutters garage about 6min from my house. He’s a johnsred dealer and knows a thing or two about saws. I feel way comfortable taking a half hour ordering a new bar and..... well 3 minutes ordering a bar and 30 min shooting the breeze about saws and such.
