Kick me in the sack Saturday if Im steppin on your toes Randy but to clarify for Wayne, the mains are the smaller openings toward the exhaust on the inside of the jug.

Sounds like a method of broadening the power curve while sacrificing very little up top.The mains are normally bigger.......so opening them first when the pressure is the highest gives them a chance to build inertia before the other ports open.
At least in my pea brain that's how I see it.
