So I picked this up yesterday. He’d watched lots of videos and read lots of things about the saw and the upgrades that must be done. Another foam washer under the lock for the filter cover and this setup chip deflector.
We cut 90% hardwoods around here so I’m not sure these upgrades are a necessity but “Donny Walker said so” no offence Donny. Now this is my 3rd one, I don’t have any issues with fines in the carb or chip clearance.

Funny thing was he hardly used the saw, said he was sticking with his 461, oh well good deal for me.17C4BB1A-9747-492F-8FFB-4619B653F0BD.jpeg8CB0B3A8-78F9-4206-9903-51C1A830E6FD.jpeg941356F3-FAEC-46D2-A318-E0D6CF03E0AE.jpeg4F8127AB-4044-47FB-81DA-1F8B1D8372DD.jpeg

A logger gave me a 500i to work on that needed a new chain brake handle. He accidentally rolled a log onto it and snapped it off. I replaced it along with a new bar oil tank cap. That saw runs like a bandit and does not weigh anymore than my MS361. Rather amazing technology, he says it always starts and runs like a bandit while pulling a 30" bar and chain.

Only problem I've been seeing around here with commercial users is spark plugs coming loose and stripping out the holes. Not sure why those operators don't notice a loose spark plug, I've had loose plugs, and can tell a difference when starting and can hear it at idle.

Most guys maybe can’t feel the difference between before and after the washer is squished. I see quite a few that when reassembling I get to where they had the washer barely snug and I can give them another 1/4 - 3/8 turn
