90cc class saws which one is the current king of the class?

Ahmen to that!!! Hopefully modern diesels will soon be liberated from the emissions hèll they have currently been subject to.

I just won't own a diesel newer then 2007. My truck is an early 2007, didn't even come stock with an EGR valve. I think I'll rebuild this thing when it needs it long before going to this bull crap def system they have now.

And 661, 395's, and 288's are all great saws but I'll take a Dolmar 9010 over any of those, any day.

Why?

I've always had excellent luck with dolmars. Very well built saws with a broad torque and power curve. The 9010 is just a great saw in my opinion..
The 661 while also a great saw has issues with the AV limiter cup on the right side being thin and brittle. Once that gets broken they have a tendency to rip intakes or pull the intake away from the cylinder causing an air leak and lean condition.
The 395xp is a great milling saw but just something I would want to fell big timber with. I'm just not a huge husky fan.
The 064 is an absolute legend of a saw as well as the OG 066. I love an 064. But I still prefer the 9010

The early 550’s and 562’s remind me of 6.0 powerstroke. You hear a lot of negative *s-word about them cause that’s what people talk about. But there’s 6.0’s out there with 300k that have had nothing but regular maintenance. Just like my early 550’s and 562’s never really gave me any problems.

well, ford did settle a huge class action lawsuit for anybody that owned a 2003-2007 6.0, so im pretty sure thats a bad comparison lol.

I don't see a lot of 90cc saws (little logging done in our area), but I recently worked on a 661 that had the limiter cup broken as well as the anti-vibe mount on the left side of the crankcase (above the fuel cap). I was appalled at how weak the anti-vibe mount was for that big a saw. I ended up making a metal bracket that fit under the recoil starter to bolt the anti-vibe spring on. And, yes, of course the intake boot was shredded. I put on a 660 accordion boot.

Big Phil the timber faller is always saying the 661 is junk. He went back to his old 395s.

That being said, I don’t use my stuff as much or as hard as him and I’d like to have a 661. I don’t care to swing a 395 around. I’m not nearly as young and strong as him.

Just bought a ‘14 ford 6.2 gas for the shop, to avoid diesel headche$ and aluminum cabs. Had a guy come in with a f700 that the roof ripped a 2’ square hole in all on its own with no outside force or impact.

6.2 gas is good, the roof ripping open on its own is odd. Thought the aluminum was actually holding up well minus people backing into stuff and punching holes in them. Or them turning into a frame just if lit on fire especially if the mag alloy transmission gets going. Actually so far like my 21 f-150 2.7 aluminum truck, about the only thing that looks nice up here after 10-12 years.

I got loaned a 592 for a week with a 32” bar because a fella was curious of my opinion on it.
I am impressed, cutting big twisted up sugar maple into firewood then noodling it down.
4 tanks in so far and really digging it.
Kinda wishing I went with one of these instead of my 661. Way firmer feel in the cut, seems to have a much better air filter, solid power.
Whats the downsides on 592’s? Dealer support? (Area dependent) Auto tune can’t be field serviced?

Well, I've had a MMWS 592xp for at least 3 years now. Dealer support kinda depends on where you're located I suppose. The common complaint I hear from my dealer is how long it takes to get parts from Husqvarna. I had Duke at Saw Salvage tell me the same thing. Fortunately I haven't really had to wait very long for stuff I've needed. My experiences:
- On my 3rd muffler. The metal on the original mufflers was pretty thin and easy to puncture. Husky recognized this and beefed up the new mufflers.
- I've replaced both rear anti vibe springs as both broke at different times.
- Inner spike dog mount broke. Had to send it to Shaun Carr to have it mag welded. No issues since.

I've also been told by a very reputable porter that the engine doesn't have as much "meat" as he thinks it should which in his mind could lead to durability/longevity issues. All that said, I love the saw and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if something happens to this one. It's super smooth and feels great in my hands.

I don’t even know him not heard of Big Phil, but i like him Just get a 592 luv mine, no twisting or fighting and is the first model to hit AU… lookout do i hear that’d be no good! eats my 660 like a kid in MacDonalds on the apple pies, mean while we are back cleaning filters each tank and refuelling the stihl be there tomorrow from the bowser that’s needed to be carried the jobs done with half the pain and twice the smile ps my 562 is the first model too and no issues, goes hard with a 24”, oh i did upgrade the air intake, should have left it alone! I hate pleated filters in the field, ok in a workshop
