The 6400/7900 is a tough one to classify.

I'm thinking it is a better (stronger) example than the new Makita 7900

Being the 6400 has the better coil, non Hd filter (not sure if hd is stock on any)

Not sure if the cat muffler would be better than the new slr muffler and jug or not?

I think you should make these girls dinner too. Maybe a massage after.

I like spaghetti.

Ran all the saws today...

In this order
572xp
7310p
7900
500i
462

Some showed up, some were lacking.

This is a comparison..... Hp/tq are what were measured today. Every saw had 6 pulls made, and the avg run was selected for display.

All runs were corrected to the same temperature/humidity.

If someone wants to enlarge the pics/legend feel free.

The pic's with the table of numbers show peak hp/tq with the "PK" next to them at the rpm it happened. Saw model is at the top of the column.

All saws had less than 3 tanks through to begin with.

Good job there Joe!
Couple of things I thought interesting were the 9,000 RPM line and the torque curve of the 500i, nice to see what you feel when cutting with one of them(500i) and makes it easier to explain now.
Appreciate all of your efforts put into this endeavor and sharing with us here.

Thanks for adding the Dolkita 79xx and giving these miscreants something to cry about Joe lol.

I am shocked by how well the 462 pulled.
I'm not, neither is Dallas ;)
So a 7900 made 6.47 hp exhaling through a straw with a hot cat inside of it. That’s actually pretty impressive and respectable if you ask me. Especially if you consider that it is rated at 6.3hp stock with the less restrictive original equipment galvanized muffler.
Hotter makes more powa! Run it till it don't!!:-)
I've got an extra gutted 7900/10 muffler you can bolt on that dolmar... do the saw a favor and don't run it hot with that cat muffler on it.
Naa... they make too many fumes.

That old school dog is just hanging out with the new kids.
Guess the next gtg will decide nothing.

Good stuffs, tool on a tool...

Just the way it was running. Still cleaned up nice. I'm sure with some more time it will be up around 13k. That "dropoff" it is 4 stroking, while it looks bad on the graph, set the spikes and clean it up...

Something you wouldn't notice much cutting wood.

The whole point of this was to test "out of the box" new saws.

Don't know where I could find a fully broken in New saw lol.

Lol not even kidding...

Husky must of sucked some juice while sitting on the plasma table...

Lol

I was informed the 6400 muffler I used was the heavy cat muffler. No I'm not gutting it and retesting!!!

Nothing wrong with any of these saws.

The top 4 saws are only separated by about 10% peak power.

Actually seeing the cured on the graph is nice, but the change is not as drastic as it looks.

What would be funny is if the bottom 2 stock saws turn into the top 2 ported saws....
Thanks for being totally transparent and sharing that info. I just ran my old school 7900 against my 500i, it was just a hair behind the 500i, well within the margin of error. I was thinking just how far behind the new Dolmar 7910's are now, with some parts maybe not so much. Out of the box they are now nothing to write home about though. [emoji106][emoji111]
