I started at 15200. With the mods I did on the carb, I was wanting to see how high it would go. The EL42 is a known trouble maker on a ported saw. So.....
Seems the 199 is the carb for this saw.

Never ran mine over 15K, but have a 346 OE that will 4 stroke at 15,500. :)

I agree. Trouble is, those are getting tougher to find. I have a bunch of these 42s.

Looks like Dan put an EL32 on my 357. Dunno if it's modded or not, he's pretty tight lipped about the details. It 4 strokes @ 15,2.

My 357 was always tuned around 13.4K so they dont get doggy under 14K. All my videos were that rich. Also only 180psi like I liked my work saws. It is all in the porting. ;) JMO

Yeah it could be tuned higher but why it cut slower. You learn after awhile in testing what makes them go. FUEL

In other words. Who gives a squat about what rpm it turns out of the wood WOT or what a freaking dyno shows.
It is what rpm it holds in the wood that gets the wood cut quicker.

Other words 15-17 out of wood but 11-12 in wood

13-13.5 out of wood but 12.5-13 in wood

Guess who wins in the cuts.

Wasnt any 6100 around when we were racing and cutting. Sure like to see how they compare though. They look sweet IMO.

Now when I was getting out of the 60cc class the ported 361 was just starting to beat my 357. I was impressed.
No one here I know or AS was porting those 361 though.

I don't give a squat what they turn WOT, it's just a number. :)

Yes sir Terry. The 357 has a EL42, much the same carb has the 6100 has.

I'll try to remember to do that tomorrow. If I forget, remind me.

Yep. All three ported. I think I'll run that 357 again tomorrow with a proper tune.

Well, maybe I can. I'll try.

Did you get any profile pics of the 6100 beside the 562 or 357?

With all the emphasis on performance on this forum, I'm surprised nobody has done a back to back test on blocking off the air injection system to see if there's a bit more performance, especially for a work saw that is going to be run hard. Plus, if the engine was running cooler, that might give it a bit more longevity.

Perhaps it is the idea of drilling a hole in the back of the airbox that dissuades people. If the mod didn't make an improvement, a piece of tape covering over the hole would affect the looks of the saw. Maybe someone has an old airbox lid that they could donate for a test?

How about posting a picture of what you did Terry? I'm not seeing it in my mind from your explanation.
