Would be interesting to put em all on a scale in addition to showing performance. All fully fueled with the same size B&C. I think the power/wt comparison would tilt the scale a little more in favor of the older Husky.

Speaker of lighter 60 cc saws, are those newer 362s porting well for you Randy? If so, it would be great to see one of them in this comparison also. I have not seen too much about them since they came out.

If I get time I'll weigh them Mike. Just the powerhead though. The bar and chain can be weighed separate.

I've only done a couple of the new 362s. They take a long time to really wake up, so they don't show their true potential till 10 - 12 tanks of fuel. Getting people to believe that that are bias against those saws is impossible.

Which one is yours Don?

None of these, but I'm doing a 357 for him.

I noticed the same with a 261. Any guess why?

I've been messing with carbs all day. I drilled the seat in your carb, and screwed it up. It wouldn't seal at all. Luckily I have a box full of new Zamas. After I got another one fixed up and made those videos, I started modding five 3120 carbs. One is gonna run alcohol....that's all new to me.
If it was a 562, you would not have to mess with it all day!:ARMS1: Oh, That's right mine was the slowest. :crybaby2:

I wish I knew. Cobby and I have wondered if it's a break in program in the m-tronic system.
Now that would make sense ...if the saws were brand new when they got to you. The last thing the factory line could do after a rig test could be to set a run time for the engine on a richer mix limiting max rpm and giving a brake in phase. Perhaps 5-6hrs from the tank numbers you mention. I "suppose in theory " its posable with the M tronic system if like Auto tune it logs run time and other information .

That saw is Hauling Ass! LOL

Here it was at a gtg in 65cc under class with 56.5cc which is crazy IMO. Took 1st in class then sold right after gtg.
Saw was done when we were running 0-60cc class. But then started going 4ci rules like real racing.

Listen to that motor get mad hornet. cutting year old dry sycamore cant about 4:10 in then 4:21 I let another guy run the 357.

4min 10 sec and 4min 21sec I think

Randy, you may want to try a trick to help the 357 from becoming 'heat soaked'.

As I'm sure you've heard, we get a lot of dust here in Oz from our wood, its not exactly green softwood. As such, the 'Air Injection' system doesn't work very well. In fact, it makes things worse as the dust is sucked in the front of the starter cover off of the bar. Whereas the chips may go around in the design, the dust gets sucked into the air filter box and increases the load on the filter.

Here's the part you may want to take advantage of - air across the fins. When you mod the saw to make more power that power comes from ingesting more air in the engine. That air comes off the flywheel through the 'Air Injection' system. The more you mod, the more heat in the engine, PLUS the more you mod, the LESS air goes across the fins.

I had a big problem with my 450 getting really hot until I blocked off the air injection system and made a hole in the back of the air box lid. The drop in temperatures was dramatic.

Maybe one of your customers will allow you to drill a hole in the back of the airbox and do a back to back test with the air injection system in use and also blocked off.

I used to race bikes back in the 1970-80s when the bikes were air-cooled. It was a cheap trick to sucker a bloke into a drag race when his bike was heat soaked and mine was barely warmed up.

EDIT: On the 450 I mentioned, I thought I was going to have to put a 'clearance band' in the top of the piston as the piston was making contact all the way to the top, I was pushing the engine close to a seizure. The sparkplug had a white electrode from the heat. When I blocked off the Air Injection the plug became a nice chocolate brown and the piston no longer needed to have extra clearance.

I really think I just had the 357 too lean. That made it get hot too quick. The progressively slower cut times sorta bear that thinking out.

Here in this part of the world, that air injection is a very welcome addition to the saws.....I wish all saws had it.

That said.....I need a temp gun to learn more about this stuff.

Always more to learn. I love that.

I agree, have never heard of a heat issue with this saw.

My hillbilly ported 357 likes to be tuned around 14,200. Even though it will still 4 stroke at higher rpm.

But it gets kind of doggy tuned under 14k.
