I was going to ask if a 199 might "help" it along some. If you want to keep it awhile longer to compare it to the 620 that would be fine with me as long as it isn't to long. LOL. I am going to try and make the gtg, I will have this saw along with me and leave a couple saws with you for some more magic!

I've been messing with carbs all day. I drilled the seat in your carb, and screwed it up. It wouldn't seal at all. Luckily I have a box full of new Zamas. After I got another one fixed up and made those videos, I started modding five 3120 carbs. One is gonna run alcohol....that's all new to me.

So maybe I missed it, but have all three been Mastermind ported??

The 357 sure sounded like the baddest ass in the bunch, but cut times showed that to not quite be the case... Close as it was.

I too enjoyed the march of the Guinea fowl.. :D

Love me some 357! Interesting to note, the 357 being the smallest in actual displacement, if even by a relatively small margin... I still think there is something magical about a good ol' 357xp :)

Bryanr2: I believe your comment above is 100% spot on the money.

Cool thread!

The 357 really is one of Husqvarna's best, but they fouled it with the automatic compression release. That ruined its' reputation with professional forestry and commercial ROW crews, who are the biggest users worldwide of pro-grade 60cc saws. It they had left it alone and offered a "west coast" version early on, it would have been the best selling 60cc ever.

I think I am really going to like that saw! Thank you Randy!
Next up for me will be a 346xp that is about the same as that 357xp. Then it will be a 372xp that is much the same.
I have another 357xp that is nos and a 346xp ne and oe that are nos as well.

quit bragging.:b1:

Spike60 found and sent me 1 of only 2 Full wraps left from the distributer for my 357xp and I bought the dual spikes to make it a West Coast saw.

Did the 6100 and 357 pick up some more low end grunt after the carb mods?

With the reeds on the strato of the 6100, I figure that it could probably take a bit more fuel in the low speed circuit than the 357, is that what you ran into or were they essentially jetted the same?

Was HBRN a big proponent of running saws while on alcohol?

Want to do one more? I may be able to help you a little on that alky carb. I have some starting sizes for most of those carbs.

I'm adding a high speed jet, and enlarging the seat. The final drill pattern will be done by the end user.

They are both jetted the same Terry.

I'm running about two weeks or more behind right now. I had several rebuilds in a row that I didn't plan on. I have a new 620 here......but the 562 and the 357 will be gone before I get the 620 done. I can probably hang onto the 6100 for a comparison though.
No hurry on mine, Randy. Do what you need to do.

Would be interesting to put em all on a scale in addition to showing performance. All fully fueled with the same size B&C. I think the power/wt comparison would tilt the scale a little more in favor of the older Husky.

Speaking of lighter 60 cc saws, are those newer 362s porting well for you Randy? If so, it would be great to see one of them in this comparison also. I have not seen too much about them since they came out.
