Working on a 372xpw jug. Gonna attempt 100 120 80 timing. First step for me is transfers. ...this looks like a lot of material to remove though.

I measured this twice. Ring is right at 120 deg.

Or should I go for different numbers?

well, I dropped the jug by decking the chassis... by .019" on the mill. squish is now .019" w/ a gasket... no I did not cut squish band.

I will be adding heated components to this saw, and its already sold. :)

thanks for the help, will post more photos eventually

A 372 xpw g sounds amazing. Makes me want to get 2. How hard and how much is it to make one of these saws heated? Hope your grinding goes well my friend.

I don't have lots of comp... because I'm not cutting squishband. So I don't want to raise the exhaust too high I don't think. So I'll stick with 100...or so.

Just seems like a lot of grinding for such a nice jug. Not going for ultimate RPM either, this saw will likely only see a longer bar.

I have done some work to my XPW. I am running no base gasket. I raised the transfers 3 deg, widened the exhaust port to 68% of bore diameter and enlarged the entire exhaust outlet as well as matched the exhaust gasket and muffler to the newly enlarged outlet. It goes without saying that I added a second port to the muffler as well... I did not raise the exhaust or do anything at all to the intake. This is where I stopped and I think it runs pretty strong for my first attempt. It's spooling north of 13.6k no load (unlimited coil) and holding just under 12k in the cut on 18" ash. I should also note that I can still lean out the high side a bit more as it still 4-strokes in the cut a little bit.

I would have to check my notes to give numbers as I don't recall them off the top of my head.

What I can say is that based on advice given by people here and elsewhere whose opinions I trust, I will be going back in one more time and raising the exhaust to about 100 and raising the transfers a little more. I want to say that my transfers are at 123 deg right now, but I'm not 100% sure as I'm going from memory and don't have my notes in front of me.

This is how my XPW runs as of now. Still not on the same level as the pros here who port saws for a living, but I'd be lying if I told you I'm not a little bit proud of what I have done thus far. :)

Mattyo, I look forward to seeing how you do yours and the results. :)

I will certainly post up when I go back into mine and make the last changes I want to do. There doesn't seem to be a heck of alot of XPW builds, nice to see another one in progress.

Transfers at 125 is real close to where mine were before grinding (with no base gasket).

I'm gonna have to go down to XP_Slinger's (my brother) house and look at my notes before talking about what my numbers are with any degree of seriousness....

OK, I went into my XPW for the final time today and made some changes...

Numbers it was at when I started and with base gasket delete: Ex:103, Trans:125, Int:75, BD of 22.

After I finished I was at Ex:100, Trans:122, Intake:75 and Blowdown:22
