One of mine is missing the band. My particular one is nla. But any cover from a 61, 266, 268, 272 etc will work. I'd just rather not have to paint it red

I recently built a 61 grey top with the two piece ignition to a 272. Just playing around with the hl cheapest top end kit and it fit without modification to the top cover. Once i decided to go with a 272 muffler i went ahead and cut the front back some because i didn't like how close it sat to it. I used the carb bolts from the 61 and a 272 intake block, and a carb i pulled off of a 288 parts saw.

If I remember correctly, it begins with a 6.

That would fit with what I see - and I won't be surprised if the tag says "SE" on it, rather than "XP". This was common on the early xp saws.

What I meant Jeremy is Saturday I got the new,complete clutch cover assembly for mine. To replace my cracked clutch assembly with a bent flag. The old one does have good band and brake components. It only took a day before someone needed them.
