Alright side by side comparison with an old OEM one.
View attachment 294930

It says Stihl and KS on both, its not a dollar sign.

Same numbers

Im damn confused, what would you fellas do? Refund or change for a meteor or?
I was a bit suprised with the price but they sell OEM meteors and AIP pistons for half the price compared to others so i thought... maybe...?

Is it possible to contact stihl or kolbenschmidt about this?

EDIT: should i post in other thread or this one is okay for this stuff?
Pic four has no relief on the inner pin boss area.
Whoops... good place to start a crack. Sand over all those corners you find on it. Crack prone area and it is a mistake during machining. It was missed or skipped to save time. It requires a pilot tool to be done correctly at the factory. Devil is in the details.

Edit

It appears to have pin holes in the pin hole area. How ironically fugged

Hyways are not existent here but Meteor are best aftermarkets as ive heard.
Then ill try asking to replace for Meteor as they were the same price.

This is the first counterfeit with Stihl marks and cast tags that ive ever seen.

Clearances are a bit too big for a brand new piston, only 0.001" smaller p&c clearance than with an old worn piston.

Dave, where can series numbers be found? How did you know that they were wrong?

Perhaps facetious is a better description of the comment? LOL

But given the expert input on the subject, it's safe to say most would consider a Meteor replacement a better alternative to the $40 'Stihl' piston of questionable origin.

And does DDave even sleep?

Anyway, i was extremely curious about this, and since they mentioned money-back, i said screw it.
Hopefuly I can help someone who wouldnt notice counterfeit with these posts.

Alright, they accepted replacement for a Meteor.
They still claim it is an OEM, but made in Brasil, that reilly reminds me of something :D:cunaooooo:

I put a meteor 064 piston in an ms650 a few years ago, and I had to put it in backwards to keep the ring locating pins out of the back of the upper transfers.

The pins cleared everything fine with the piston in backwards.

And for all I know, meteor might have changed the piston since then, or maybe your cylinder is different than mine. I just thought it would be worth checking. [emoji106]

Anyone ever have issues putting an 066 carb like a HS-320 on an 064? I acquired an 064 a few weeks ago and had a new HD filter setup for it, the BING carb that came on the saw didn't have the little snorkel thing that goes into the filter area so i put the new Tillotson on this saw and it seems very sensitive, still cant get it tuned right. Saw passed vacuum/pressure after putting new seals and what not on it.

Clean it out good. I find metal in new stuff all the time.

What’s the popoff on the carb? High speed or low speed tuning issue? Did you try to clean the carb?
