Just use a few case gaskets.
Just use a few case gaskets.
You've got no worries. You bought it off Dave. He will make it right Gregg, and without any difficulty.
Understood.I have no doubt of that. I was just ready to dig in.
What's up with the area where the cases don't match up?
Is that rust in the small end of the crank?
460 crank? The cases not matching are a huge problem. I mentioned it back a page or so. No rust on the con rod, just some smuts I need to clean up...however, another issue I brought up back there is the fact that it's not an 044/440 crank.
I've got a long way to go on this one.
460 crank?
I’d buy it if you’re looking to sell. That's my suspicion.
I’ve built one saw (Stihl) with mismatched cases. They weren’t as bad as your pic but I did file them flat and used sealant plus gasket.
Got 2-3 tanks on it so far... ran it today in fact.
I’d buy it if you’re looking to sell.
I knew a guy with a belt sander once
Let's see what happens with this one. If I can find a 044/440 crank for sale, we'll work something out!
Well crap. I'm not really looking to spend machinist labor on this project. Grr. This isn't a good way to start my first real build.
Here's the crank markings. Any clues to be found?
