Well, it runs with the stihl bearings and .075" shims.... I guess the next question is, for how long?
Thatā€™s good unfortunately to actually be able to say the metal cages made difference youā€™d need to run it 50:1 and see if or how long it makes it. They survive at 32:1 with factory bearings unfortunately it the metal ones fail at 50:1 you may have a catastrophic failure.

I ended up tossing in Stihl nylon bearings.

When bearings fail, it's never good. There's always damage sometimes things are salvageable other times there not, doesn't matter if it's steel caged or nylon.

Liquid nitrogen bath for the shaft, 400 degrees for the wheel, melted my sole, oops.

.017ā€ interference fit.

Our 10ā€ hard bushings for the 40 yd shovel buckets at work only have 7-10 thousandths press but I have kinda messed with what youā€™re doing there. Heat the ears up with a rose bud and freeze the bushings. Fresh rebore on ears we can usually just freeze the bushings but after they change enough bushings they get nicked with the air arc and seem to also go out of round so heating the bore on a used one helps give a bit more room.
