Ported 357, ported 394.
Scrounging CL farwood produces big stuff that no one can deal with, so the bigger saw makes quicker work of it. The 56.5cc 357 can do everything else.

I like the ported 50/70 plan, party because that’s what I have. I cut a decent bit of big wood (30-65”) and the 70cc does the job with a 28” bar. It also wears a 20” for smaller wood. It was all I had for a while.

Now I have a 50cc too, and it’s great for anything under ~16”, but it will easily handle bigger wood.

I get a lot of free wood from craigslist and facebook that nobody else is able to or wants to deal with. The pair of saws will handle just about anything I can find around here.

I like a 50cc-76cc line up most of the time the 50cc gets most of the work, but it all depends on the job at hand! Wood up to 14” 50cc,wood up to 18” 60cc, wood up to 30” 76cc wood ,up to 36” 90cc and big wood is all 111-123-137cc gear drive range for me! I get bored if I have to use too small of a saw for a task! I like to have my bases covered....it’s hard for me to only take two saws! I am usually tinkering with a (new to me saw) and putting it through it’s paces!

For my one man tree service can't beat the 562XP and flat top 066AV Magnums.
Dedicate a 28"-36" on the '97 066 and 20" on both the 562 and 066RL/064 hybrid I recently OEM rebuilt.
The hybrid is the weight of a MS461....only a pound PHO heavier then the 562.
None of them need porting, all just have a muffler mod.
T536 and MS261C in the back are dedicated to climbing.

Hopefully next year I'll have either a MS500i or MS462 to partner with the 066's. Always will keep running 066's.

THIS!!!^^^

If I could only have two these would be my go to choices.
Yep...
Old skool cool [emoji41]

I have had 181’s 281’s and a 288 and a pearly 154. I am always on the hunt for any 54 but the guys in the uk must beat them to hell as they are all tatty as fook.

I have however settled on a 550xp...

And an 066 for milling and the big stuff.

50/90 for me...

Blasphemy! Every saw needs to be ported. At least that’s what I learned here......

Normally I leave the squished and ported saws for cookie cutting in the saw races, and rely on my hand filing skills for the worksaws.

But I do need to get a new MS261 worked over by Randy:D
I'll leave these strato saws for the young guys.:)

Out of my 45 worksaw arsenal the 50 cc and 70 cc saws do the most work just due to the general size of the trees left here for me to cut. All of my saws but one are woods ported and handle longer bars than standard. The 90 cc and up saws see very little work these days unless milling counts.

If I absolutely had to have a two saw plan. I would go echo 590-620 and Husqvarna 390.

Those little 60cc echos run good and make for strong runners with little work. And I just like the 385-390 with a 36" it just feels right.

That's my problem, the locals trim off all the branches and leave the big trunks for mugs like me. I use the 365 BB (77cc) to cut 'em up. So where I am and what I cut, I would likely go with a ported 50cc saw and something around 70+cc like the 365 BB or a 7900.

Gotta love free wood.
The 90+ muscle makes the job much quicker. Plus if it’s that big, making one cut with a long bar makes prettier splits in the end. No hint of misaligned cuts.
