It’ makes heat , 👍
Exactly my thinking!

I also took out a couple wild hazel sticks that were in the way.
And two apple trees, one snapped at its base when I dragged the birch trunk over it last summer, the other was interfering with saving my tractor from sliding downhill (sorry!).
And some locust, and cornelian cherry, and willow.
Quite a mix of wood species I got home in todays load.

My son and I got 3 dead standing oak wilt trees dropped and blocked up this morning. I was a little scared of the tree in the pics. After cutting yesterday afternoon I noticed the tree. The top was broken off and some bark was missing. That's not what scared me. The tree had a vertical crack going up the trunk. I was worried while cutting the tree that it would split in half and come crashing down on me. After texting with a member here last night, he told me that it was just a frost crack. He was right, the tree didn't split. We used my scarr 572XP and my scarr 4350, everything was blocked to 26" for a owb.

After cutting the trees, we managed to cut up a load for my cabin and two loads for the landowners son in law. My son cut most of it with my scarr 4350.

My dad and I used his truck, winch, and bumper mounted log arch to skid some logs out of the ditch today for my neighbor who is building a house. This large red elm tree was right next to the road, and the neighbor was forced to have it cut down before the town would issue a building permit to him. Some of these logs will get milled, but at least two of them will end up being firewood.

Had a good time cutting the flare off a few of them with my mmws 395. It's been a long week; That angry orange thing makes me grin every time I get to use it 🙂

Cut down a standing dead (mostly) White Oak; got it sectioned, then transported it to my firewood processing area near my pole barn. Most of this will go to my BIL, since I'm pretty full.

The other side; you can see my new logging helmet on the pile.

Where is the ditch? Is it behind the billiard table? Lol

It isn't much of a ditch, really. Bottom of this picture, behind the excavator in the previous pictures. Easy work, compared to what it could be
I am just a little jealous of all that flat ground, but we get 55" of rain a year, so it wouldn't work that flat.

I got a little this morning. My son and I planned on cutting down some dead standing oak trees. I knew that we were supposed to have high winds today. Were cutting on top of a hill. When we got to first tree, the top of the tree was swaying bad with the wind. I knew bad things would happen if we tried dropping trees in the high wind! We ended up cutting up a bunch of blowovers. He did most of the cutting with my newest scarr 572XP. Everything was blocked up to 26" for a owb.
