I got some this morning. I had planned to block up 6 or 7 trees. The first tree went very well, my son and I had it cut down and blocked up in about 5 minutes. The second tree didn't go as planned. It was leaning towards another tree but I felt that I could wedge it to miss the other tree. I have mentioned on here that I suck at dropping trees! You can guess what happened, it got hung up in another tree. My son went back to the truck to get a rope. We got the tree pulled down using the four wheeler. We used my XS 572xpg and scarr 4350.

One of landowners son in law wanted me to cut some firewood for his campfire off one of the scrap piles. I used my scarr 4350 and my son used my XS 550xp. We ended up with 9 little piles, probably about a pickup load and a half.

I got a little this very frosty morning. I blocked up two trees this morning. I dropped the trees yesterday. After a close call with a widow maker in November I won't drop trees when I'm by myself anymore. I knew my son wasn't going to come out with me this morning so I dropped them yesterday when he was with me. I used my XS 550xp for the limbs and brush and my oldest scarr 572XP for the trunk. I blocked everything at 26" for a owb. BTW lots of rocks and thorns.

You seem to use that 550XS often. What are you running on it for chain?

Kevin's doing my 550 mark2, been on the fence what to run on it when it;s done.
The 325 is faster in wood less than 6'' . The 325 is also less grabby when hacking through bush and small limbs. The 3/8 seems a little fast in larger wood. I also run 18'' 3/8 on my Stump Shot 550xpg and my scarr 550xpg.

My current stock.

Pole Barn:

Woodshed #1; the bay on the right is just for recreational firewood only. Each bay holds ~3 cords each. The two barrels? They are full splitter slash; I use it as kindling to start my fires every morning during the heating season. We heat exclusively with wood.

Woodshed #2; bay #1 (on the right) is the only space I have to store firewood right now since I want to empty the Pole Barn so I can reuse it for something other than firewood storage.

I estimate I have enough firewood for at least 8 years right now.

I got four trees blocked up today. Three of the four were dead standing oak wilt trees. One tree had the top broken off. I dropped the trees and my son did most of the cutting. We ran my scarr 4350 and Stump Shot 550xpg. Everything was blocked to 26" for a owb.

Stocking stuffers!
A small addition to my humble firewood supply.
This will go in "the box" where all the odds and uglies end up in.
This is one tractor crate full, a last summer storm damaged cherry (& some locust, & conifer).
