My only gripe with 462 isn’t the fuel economy, it’s that it won’t empty the darn tank. Both mine start starving for fuel and “run out” with about 1/4 tank left. The molded fuel hose doesn’t allow the pickup body to lay flat on the bottom of the tank. They will empty the tank if run on the side when falling or stumping, but when bucking, they run out prematurely.

Will maybe a weighted Husky filter do the trick? I have to run one on my 288, as it will starve with the stihl filter in certain positions.

Could someone weigh a 462 with and without the scrench holder for me ?

I'd also like a published weight with a 28" and a full skip chain with half the toof filed back and a set of 661 dawgs and 3 stickers.

Thanks for the help.

Haha ....wow, solid work! I'ma take your word for it!

It's h_ll in my head.
Yeah I do it in my head but I have dyslexia when I write as well numeral & directional dyslexia and ADHD with concentration issues so it's 'buyer beware''..lol. Numbers comes easier than writing. Tried working in the bush but the Ravens kept eating the bread trail crumbs.
I was OK if I was working on steep hills and better if the sun was out and trees had an eastern lean with north side moss and common north side vegetation ...And my Radio, cell phone, GPS, spot finder, map and compass.

I had to tweak the post a bit. I said the 572 was about 1/8 less fuel. More accurate, Its just under 1/11. (9%) I went on memory and said the 372 had .390 ml of oil.
It's actually .420ml.
When you check specs, you have to go on quite a few of them. Some have lots of inaccurate info also you have to weed through. Not quite as gullible as I once was.
I said the 372 oiling capacity was 21ml per/min. You will see 20/ml/min written too.
The original number from 362/365/371 manual specs is a 4 - 20 ml/min at 8500 RPM across the board.

use oxygenated fuel. Its lighter.

Hotsaws it can't pull a 32, but a 33 is no problem.

I run low rakers so the chain is lighter..it makes a difference at the end of the day.
Is it square filed too? I wonder if it’s a few ounces lighter than round filed.

Only if yer using .050 skip chain, tho.
But that’s the one everyone remembers and quotes

I dunno about 60cc saws(I gave up on them when I got my 044's). But I use my 044's with 20-30" bars depending on the job, and am almost always satisfied. If I need less, I dragged out the CS390 or MS241. If I need more, the 288 comes out.

Wow thanks for the info. The 572 is better on fuel than the 462 or 372 in my experiences so far. Interesting. Seems to oil as good as a 372 does, clutch looks the same... probably the same pump? I’ll have to look at the part number in the IPL.
I will just take this Convo over to your thread and rip it up there. So I said I would try get the range output on the 462 & 572 oilers.
No luck on the Stihl. They don't give that breakdown that I could get a lead on anyway.
The 572xp is the same as the 576 at a minimum/max 5 - 22ml/min. It depends if it is the old standard max at 8500 rpm or not? That I don't know. Regardless, lots of oil.
--------

As far as the 462 taking over in the 60 class and maybe 50cc is well?.

I thing it was made and marketed for that.
It really has the best of both worlds.
I think Husqavna dropped the ball with the heating issues with the 562 and in cases 550 I believe. They handled it poorly and continue to. They have a vented top cover that fixes the problem but most people have no idea and if they find out they they would have to purchase it? Are you kidding me? No! everyone should have have been contacted and looked after and a discount on their next saw or my next Husqavna would be a Stihl... They don't deserve that market for not making it right and correcting it.
