That’s pretty much my thoughts but still a matter of preference. I’m sure I’ll still run 50cc saws and 90+. 60cc saws will still be a great choice for a one saw guy who doesn’t want to shell out $1000 or more. Cleaning up my 2260 for a prospective buyer today and it’s easy to forget that it really is a great saw that broke a lot of molds, just being overshadowed by a new generation maybe.462 is the saw to have for shorter bars i dont have any 60cc or smaller saws anymore i plan to eventually have a 462 it will do everything they did and do it better Get the 462!!!!
It already is.Port the 2260, saves you a lot of $$ and you still have a lighter saw at the end of the day more then capable of pulling a 20-24" bar.
Could someone weigh a 462 with and without the scrench holder for me ?
I'd also like a published weight with a 28" and a full skip chain with half the toof filed back and a set of 661 dawgs and 3 stickers.
Thanks for the help.
I owned a ported 562 and imo cutting firewood you won’t tell a difference between it and the 462 powerwise... I wouldn’t sell the ported 2260 for 462 cutting firewood unless I wanted to try something different. Bore cutting/felling timber and bucking saw logs on the landing the 462 has some more grunt with a 24” bar in bigger wood and I would choose it over the 562/2260 for that. Both good saws, little bit different personalities. Just my two cents.
Anytime I’ve run a ported saw in a class larger than it was designed for I go back to its conventional size. Might have the power but the balance is off and a/v mounts aren't happy. Since weight isn’t everything its possible the 572 might the better 24”-28” saw, just more intrigued with the 462 and it seems to fit in a range I never used to think of for a 70cc saw.
I would personally pick the 572 over the 462 for a 28” bar in hardwood. Would balance it better. I like running the 572 so far. Smooth, comfortable and torquey. I guess it comes down to personal preference and what a guy is looking for in a saw. Both good saws... different personalities.
Food for thought but why not spend the 462 money on a square grinder?
Can make any saw faster that way.
So can a $6 file
