I would love to get a square grinder but for myself it doesn’t make much sense. 90% of my cutting is on the road and I assume they’re not that mobile.

I had a 562 for a couple of years for doing fire smart programs until it ran into carb issues. Now it’s in pieces in a box in my garage. I hated it the entire time, I felt the AV system was really weak and sloppy.

I got to run a 462 for a few days this past winter and was really impressed with the weight and speed of the saw. For myself I don’t see any reason to buy anything else but the 462 to replace my 562 as my smaller, lighter saw. Once it’s available in the Arctic Wrap it’ll be my next purchase.

So you felt the 462 was stiffer then the 562?o_O I definitely can't agree with that.

I absolutely did. I change the mounts on my 562 two separate times and it just felt really sloppy. Limbing standing spruce and fir with it for 8-10 hrs a day got really annoying.

That’s one thing I didn’t like about the 562, sure was a powerhouse though for its size.

Man sorry your experience wasn't better, I love my 2260s, perfect saw to me. Hope you like the 462.

I agree, Stihl's AV is their only real weakness right now IMHO, like wet noodles. The 572 has more firm, yet smoother AV than the 462. Other than that most of their newer models are the top dogs. The 572 is a nice saw! ran mine for the first time today, but it still isn't a 7900, which is an almost 20 year olds design now.

I have my opinion on where Husqvarna is headed, which is sad because at heart I'm a husky guy. I haven't seen a Husqvarna dealer im my area in the last 20 years, I can literally walk to a Stihl dealer, one of 6 thin 10 miles of me. Outside of the logging communities, the market in most areas has shifted.

The 462 and 572 are definitely stiffer than the 562. 562 is ok with a 18-24” bar... but a 28, especially a standard weight starts pushing the limits of the AV and oiler. Too much. Not that I want to run a 28 or even a 24 on a 60cc saw logging hardwoods, they don’t have the balls to bore cut as well as the larger saws with that in hardwood. Maybe out west where the wood is softer it’s a different story.

I want a 462 for a 20" bar "small saw" it will be perfect for that. I want husky to make a more powerful 80cc version of the 572 and i will get that for 20-24 inch bars and may sell my rattler 288xp thats currently filling that roll. For now though the 288 is my smallest non top handle saw what can I say i like torque!

I could be wrong but I don’t see anyone, anywhere using a 60cc saw for logging, just wouldn’t make any sense. The 562 was my small saw for limbing standing trees all day and it filled that role well minus the AV issues. Right now my smallest saw is a 461 which is fine but I will eventually end up with a 462 to fill the role my 562 had being my small/light saw.

I was at my dealer yesterday looking for a replacement for my 14yo ms270 farmboss. I was comparing the 261, 362 and 462 all CM models with 20" bar . After picking up and handling each saw several times it was clear to me that the weight difference between the 362 and 462 was extremely minimal and if cost isn't a factor, we might as well get the 462 with the extra oomp. If money is a factor or you absolutely need less weight then the 261 is probably the best choice.

I myself will have my 270 repaired and refreshed and kept as a backup. I'll also be picking up a nice new ms462cm 20" as my go to for up keeping my property and splitting firewood.

Welcome, and you will really like that saw, I've got one.

Are you planning on going to the CT get together (GTG) on Sat?

I had no idea there was one. I havent surfed the forum a whole lot, need to learn my way around. My wife already tells me I spend too much time on the JD forums lol

I think you will like it, I like mine a lot.

Just don't keep trying to run any M Tronic saw when it is low on fuel … the computer will go rich and drive you crazy!

Hopefully it gives you a little burble before going nuts. The 2260 would actually give you enough time to shut it down, only thing was the hot start issue. Limbing is fairly easy to keep a saw fueled up but blocking and noodling is another matter.

Yea, it will give you a warning, just don't keep ignoring it! Takes about 6 tanks for the computer to recover, and you need to pull the trigger to start it, and they will not idle! They are great when they run right, but if they go rich, they are a PITA!

That simply shouldn't be, I mean it's extremely common for people to run a saw dry. It just doesn't make sense to me, I hope something else is going on.

Now I've had more than my fair share of issues with the 550 and 562, but they seem fine after I run them dry for storage.

The more and more I'm around the AT saws the less and less I like them, even with the 572 running flawlessly.[emoji111]
