The 462 is light, smooth, has instant throttle response and very good power … I'm sure I could do with just my 462 (has a little muff mod) and my MMWS 261 Ver II. Both these saws spoil you with their light weight, smoothness, and great power to weight.

Hate to say it, but they make my other "beloved" saws feel like Neanderthals!!!

If I made a living with a saw, the 462 would be my primary tool.

I went with an outer dog (no wrap) and a 20" light bar. It is perfect for 90% of what I do.

I posted the dry powerhead weight when I first got it, can't remember exactly but was very close to the advertised 13.2 lbs. (14.6 lbs is a 461 … no relation!)

Here’s one for the weights and measures crowd

Empty, 25” bar &chain, wrap with outside spike =17.26lbs View attachment 180827 Empty With the standard handle, 20” es light bar and chain, outside spike = 16.279lbs

What’s the Wrap model weight full of fluids with a regular weight Oregon 28” 0.063” B&C?

Hook it on a tampon string and see if it pulls it out.

If it doesn't..you're in good shape.

I don’t have one yet: please use one of your low mileage “Shooters” & share pics. K?

I take it you’ve never hung around on an “off weekend” when your chicken’s Aunt Flo came to town?

I can hear mine clear across the house when she pops the packet on the “reload.”

These are Brad's weights from his thread before running and first fill up.

13, 4.6oz and 15 2.2oz.
About 2 1/2 oz short of 2 lb in fluids.
Stihl Technical data has it as 6kg.
That's 13.2 lb
1.6 oz to a point × 2 = 3.2 oz [ 13, 3.2oz ]
They rounded off to the closest point of a kg which is 6.0kg

I would have figured over 2 lb in fluids.
Water weight would be about 2 1/2 lb. Looks like it's 20% less. than water weight
Funny how they give the oil tank in volume at 340 cc (cm3) and the fuel as simply .72 which is a liquid measurement. which would be normal.

Enough of that BS
More BS..lol

So your bar length will depend on the depth and pitch as well.

I owned three 20" Oregon bars at the same time back in the day and all three different lengths. 2 were 3/8,72 dl and there was a quite a length difference in them. The third was .325, 72 dl that I changed to 3/8 eventually.

So they were all different length but yet all 72 dl?

The width of your bar and diameter of your tip will do that. My wide tip 24" bar is a little shorter than the others.
