Gotta make it cut good before ya bother with the chassis

Well now I am confused. Getting mixed messages.

1)Doesn't matter if you know how to file, make a race chain, the more teeth the merrier.

2)Yet you know how to 'file' but you won't make a 'race chain unless it cuts good?

Lol see some irony here.

I'll figure it out. That's why they pay me the big bucks

I get it, that falls in line with my old fashion way of thinking.

Sometimes no matter what you do, you just can’t make a chain as fast as it should be. Other chains just wow you, those are the ones you want to sink your time in.

I bet that was interesting trying to hold it in your fingers lol. I can maintain a chain on the saw ,but not doing a conversion from round to square.

Yeah, it was kinda like kissing 'your' sister. .It was a little awkward a first. J/k

Yeah I guess I was a keener. Think I did a few with beaks and figured I needed to carve it back with my raker file. I made a couple respectable teeth for what I had to work with and zero experience . I knew mentally the right profile.

I do round file a lot in camp on a bar in a vise
I don't even weight it down. Just tight rails and pinch right at the tooth
It's nice to have a spare ready to go in case it's raining real heavy. At least you have options. Start out in the morning with two good to go again.

Should get a chance to try it out tomorrow, smallest sprocket I have is an 8 pin picco. Has done fine in the past with it though.

If that isn’t the ticket I can always put the 9 on.

Lol
