Time will tell if the weight savings leads to an underbuilt saw. Both Stihl and husky have saws that have gained weight because of that. If so in the end the Stihl and husky could end up at a similar weight.

The new 462 is 13.2 lbs, and it is not BS, some have already had it on the scale. The 461 (and 460) is about 14.75 lbs, and the new 572 is close to the same.

The Version I 362, 562, and 262 are all about 13 lbs even, some a hair more.

Some 044s were under 14 lbs, some not.

It should not surprise anyone that after 30 years of technology they can build a lighter, more durable saw. Metallurgy for the crank, rod, piston and flywheel should have evolved, just as they have for car engines.

The disappointment is that Husky did not cut the weight. The market will determine if that is acceptable or not.

That's the point! Even though the 572xp would be a bit stronger, which I do not think, the weight gap is to big. The Stihl guys can only beat themselves with technical problems here, the 462 is hard to beat as a allround workhorse with that weight if its hold up well. I'm more a husky guy myself, but seriously why should i pick a heavier saw (572xp) or a less powerful saw with the same weight (562xp)? Next year, when the 13,5lbs 80cc 6,8hp MS500i arrives, it will be an absolute knockout on paper for the 562xp and 572xp. Husqvarna need a rework on the 560/562 to safe weight or they must cut the prices to stay in the competition. That's my opinion
difficult to say, but 560/562 is a 6 years old construction, I would think that Husky has streamlined their production by now and can probleby cut the price if they has to.
572 is more tricky though, the extra weight is extra weight compared against 462, I belive we will see a 590 build on the same platform, perhaps 572 has a stronger build compared against the so-so realiability to 550/562.....

I wouldn't hold my breath on Husky until I see their product. There are times competitors ramp up ahead of the competition and they will be chasing the lead for quite awhile.

And I have Huskies too.

Fixed for you.

If the husky is built like the 3 series balance will be more comfortable and not killing your forearms with 50cc handlebar spacing on 70cc saws

With all the emphasis on how light it is I can't wait to see how it's gonna balance bars 28" and bigger.
