That's right...but it takes two to tango. Gotta be smart about what ya willin' to pay. And how long you're willing to take the financing. Upside down from the get go...is what it is.
I went into a high end used dealership a few years ago. They had a crewcab Cummins dually with the six speed. Two years old. First question,"You gonna finance it here"? They had it priced higher than a new one. Wouldn't even talk an outright bring the check deal.

Still trying to decide if I want those light colored seats. I get pretty dirty sometimes. If they were grey I would have done been on it. but you say 4 grand less than their asking. I will do that if I decide on it.
I wouldn't give up seat color to pay what they're asking for the truck. You can buy a damn good set of covers from Cabellas, Bass Pro, etc to handle that. Don't waiver from the offer...they'll sell it. It's just another deal to those boys. My oldest brother's had a dealership for about 15 yrs...the truck books what it books. I booked it, with what I know about it after your post...$44,500. I would say they ACV'd (Actual Coat of Vehicle on a trade-in), black book, at $36K-38K depreciation at best, trade-in from the original owner. Trust me...with the low mileage, and stealing it from the previous owner, they got plenty of room to play. I'm sure the previous owner, who probably trade'd up, is sooo far upside down now in his new truck, the money's gotta roll over on somebody...it's the buyer. Lol. He won't see sunshine in his newer ride until he hits the lottery. If he financed it for 72, 84 months...he's super screwed. Is what it is in the car business.

The truck books what I give it, by ACV black book, trade in. It doesn't matter what the previous owner transaction was...if you can get it, get it. They gotta make a little dollar too, just don't let them make a Rocka-feller...tell'em you just a Little-feller. They'll sell you the truck. Be smart about it...don't let them gain the conversation edge...you keep control of the conversation, and you'll walk with the truck. Trust me...

Very typical. If it ain't green on their end, they want nuthin to do with nuthin. They live by 'financing.'

This dealer was a little different. I know for a fact he owns his vehicles. None of that 90 day plan from the auction.

I'm not going to finance it, cash deal. When I make an offer on one if they don't take it I will walk away if they counter with a ridiculous offer. My truck now don't have all that stuff on it like the Laramie. It don't have to be a Laramie, I just don't want a white or black one and same for interior.

I once thought I never wanted leather because the kids would wreck them. Have had leather for the last 10 years and it's so much easier to clean than cloth. I wouldn't worry about the colour I would just treat the seats and clean them pretty regular and they'll look great for years.

Yep...My '06 MegaCab is a Laramie...agree completely concerning the leather interior.

If you have cash and a passport you should take a look up here in Canada. The exchange rate is very favourable right now and prices are not 30% higher.

Yes. The singles are harsh engagement with not much feathering them to back up. I'd ditch the smarty and get an efi live set up.
Which one? They have too many options...

I have an SLT with the cloth seats, and they are the worst seats I've ever had. My wife's car is leather and it's so much nicer.

There's a ton of tuners out there. If there's one within driving distance pick them. I've loaded tunes by anarchy diesel for a guy and they ran fine with no weird stuff on any level.

my 7.3 has a few mods :) as does our Jetta TDI:) I like diesel I just want something that feels like it fits in a typical parking lot without being tiny.
The cab of the Jetta is really too small for my comfort, Julie loves it. Dodge dealer is close by I wonder if he has an eco?
price and mileage are considerations for me too as is the ugly grill :(
Dave

You might want to look at the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the eco diesel, if you want to keep your truck. I am sure they ain't cheap, but should be less than a truck.

76 Ford dana 60's, Big block,, power steering and brakes drives like a new truck, I will never buy a new one. I can do a lot to this one with the price of a new truck payment. I would drive it anywhere.

How many miles young is your 7.3 @Four Paws ?

Around 22x,xxx - it starts and runs great - does everything I need it to, albeit slightly slower and less comfortable than a newer truck.

I wish it had a bigger cab so I could fit my family more comfortably when I go wood cutting - other than that, it's perfect.
