it prolly more like 99% of home owners and 80% of the so called pros. I worked for a guy that had a grinder and a thousand chains that needed to be sharpened because he was no good at it so he would just buy new chains.

And that type of stuff is why I don't lend out anything I'll be pissed about if it gets wrecked or "lost". The list is short. One person. My nephew. The good one. Not to the lying Iron Horse type.

Fan boi's telling me that the "____" ,whatever is the bestest chainsaw they ever made. Thats why they had to have it ported?
If it's so awesomenest why does it need to be ported? For the sweat pants and flip flop cutting video?
Dull chains kill a little bit of my soul , also.

Well said. I will lend out saws to people I think can handle em. I’ll be honest... I give em a “goodbye” each time knowing that they could come back to me blown up.
All those pet peeves above are spot on. I’ll add the unwillingness to learn about the equipment they want to use. I’ll teach someone what to do and I can tell instantly if they’re listening/learning. The ADD culture we have now makes it tough, though.

I dont lend out my chainsaws..period. I'll teach somebody what I know, but it will be with their chainsaw. Once bitten twice shy... my pet peeve is somebody coming to me to tune their chainsaw when they've been cutting wood for 20+ years. A problem I can see, but a problem solved by a carburetor adjustment?

Oh, using a ms180/455rancher/echo top handle to drop a 38" DBH tree because " a little saw can do it !"

My biggest chainsaw pet peeves are the manufacturers themselves. The way Husky turned venerated marques (Poulan, Mac, Jred) into throwaway junk, it's like making your grandma work a street corner. And, Makita erasing Dolmar, one of the most historically significant makers.
