I didn’t have room under the front for a jack, I do have one in the back.

I’ve got quite a bit to remove, sure don’t want to have to cut it 5 thou at a time

I think I took 0.1" in two cuts... 0.095" first cut and a 0.005" finish pass.

Mag does cut pretty easy. I’ve got about 0.3 on top and 0.375 to bore the case

Well I spent a couple hours on the 84 today, took lots of pics for those of you that want to follow along and see how I go about how I do this. Doesn’t mean I’m right, and I’m no machinist.

After I was indicated in, I milled my sides down and touched off on the deck. Just skimmed all 4 sides.

Now that the deck is good, I need to bore the case to fit the 70mm piston. I’ll use a boring head, so I need to center the case to the quill. 11808725-6CF0-4BD1-B57D-5C3E95D152DE.jpeg
Touch off on one side and zero my x.
Then I run to the other side and touch off.

Check my DRO

Half it.

Run it to zero and I’m center on my X. Then repeat for Y

Blue the deck to make layout easier.
Put the boring head in, touch it down on the deck about a half thou. Then spin it by hand and adjust it out to give me 72mm.

Then flip her on and cut down to my measured depth. 7132C1E1-3201-4C83-A781-0F1BD7DC531E.jpeg

I did have to bring it back in because the back of my boring bar would bottom out on the bearing boss. So I stepped the cut .1
