The 660 is still a sought after saw here in BC. Lots of guys still run them. One of the most reliable saws along with its predecessor the 066 in my opinion. I believe Donny Walker even thinks so. I can see why the later 66’s can be a disappointment, but with a muffler mod and a few little things they run strong for years.

They definitely have a following, and a great saw.

Understand when modded blokes like them, none were modded here in Oz for work saws any saw for that matter in my years past, rare even now. So many compare worked or ported saws to stock saws, like all things once changed should they carry the oem badge(there’s a debate!! :/ :) They are still a box to carry and fight ya twisting prior to cut, reliable yes but stock not enough grunt imo. Have always worked with and compared stock saws. Brand use here pretty much came down to the best after sales support in years past. Now it’s different though people are more into ergonomics size n power, more smaller saws are sold, under 60cc imo husky is seen more by me here. Mind you I’d like a hotsaw 250cc!!

Interesting, for me I tended to go from top handle saws, then on to, plus fall with 60cc saws, from there straight to 100/120cc never bothered with saws in between, didn’t see the point, if it were far too big for the 61 and 20/24” bar then I’d go get a big saw saw and 36+. Fuel economy is always an issue when you have to bash through thick Lantana in steep country the less trips out the better, we didn’t carry much other than the saw, I’ve a crook left arm these days in slow recovery and I don’t find this 592 to be anywhere close to the fight with a 660 or 395
Interesting on the 590 to the left 66 and 395 comment

I still like my 592 over my 660. There’s a difference. We all wanna have a best saw
And opinions Donnie Walker is a great guy to I watch a lot of his videos.
And yes there is a difference between stock and portage saw but for being a stock saw from the factory 592 got some go.

The 592's power and smoothness is hard not to like, hopefully husky gets the dog mount and random carb issues figured out sooner rather than later.

In Au they came with small dogs, i imported the fallers kit before I had the saw, just wanted a full wrap, came with wide clutch cover & larger dogs) Had already asked Westcoast Saw about 3 points dogs(husky’s larger dogs are ok) WCS’s are in the making and will be fitted.
Would like to see a larger filter under its hood.

I saw a video with West Coast dogs on a 592.

Not the change of subjects here. But it cracks me up how. An individual post is a video and says that he does not really care for the 500i he just likes his old huskies msc . in my opinion you have the right to choose what you want to run and what you do not want to run we’ve all talked about this. But the dog somebody because he doesn’t like a particular thing and he states not for him if it’s good for somebody else then so be it it’s not like he’s putting it down either. and if you look in the comments how he gets dogged because he said that. Basically he’s just saying it’s not for him
I mean we all know who the guy is and I’m not gonna post a video. but I haven’t will say this he’s got a nice collection of old Macs and I wish I had them

Just to clarify, The upper dog mount is part of the crankcase and has broke off on a few of the 592's so far
