I have an Echo twin-cylinder CST-610 that I'm desperate to get running. I found an issue with the original coil, but I think I had already damaged it otherwise before finding the loose connection at the ground to the laminations. The first picture is the resistance from the kill wire to the laminations if I pinched the coil body at that particular spot. Without pinching it the resistance was way out of spec. I fixed that but I had already been grinding on the potting to try to expose the issue and I may have messed something else up.

I'm wondering if anyone has a bad coil that I could buy and see if I can repair. I'm willing to pay shipping plus something for the coil. Thanks!

I cannot help with a spare coil, but I can report on what I found on the JD version of that saw I acquired this year. I am measuring from the spark plug lead to the primary wire with the meter set on the 2 K scale so call it 1.2 K ohms +/-.

The coils for the EVL-610 and the 66-SV counterpart are notorious for browning out and having other issues. I doubt that little bit of grinding you did ruined the coil. If it's not working it likely had issues before that.

Found one on eBay that I snapped up before the listing was more than a few hours old. Fingers crossed that it works…
I wish I didn’t have to spend almost 2 bills on a used coil, but it’s the only one I’ve seen listed in my many months of watching.IMG_1114.jpeg

Is that gold plated?? Platinum dipped?? Ouch...hopefully it is a rock solid coil and you are able to get your saw up and running again!!

Coil parts for the 610-EVL and 66 SV almost never come up on eBay. I think I've seen maybe five sets of coils on there in the last 28 years.
No kidding. This is the first set I’ve seen for sale anywhere.

Like all Echo products, they are very reliable, quite smooth in operation, and a bit heavy for the displacement. There is a definite cool factor. The middle one in this photo ended up coming home with me in 2014.

I was able to add the JD branded one last January.
