Speaking of, Brad brought his Shaun Carr ported 592xp over a couple of weeks ago and let me give it a go. I must say it sure was one good running saw for its class no doubt about it, least ways from the little bit I ran its perspective, I liked it. :)

I've got a good bit of time on both of the saws I like them alot. Lots of power and the fuel mileage is very impressive.
Air filtration is about the same as the other huskys.
I have ran 42 in bar and they pull them quite well. Husqvarna definitely did a good job on them

If you like the 572xp , you will like the 592xp , it's a larger version IMO . I posted some comments on the srcarr 592 build thread . The 592 is very smooth just like the 572 . I've only ran up to a 36'' bar on my and it seems to oil the bar good . I bought this saw to replace my ported 390 . I think the saw is a little stronger than a stock 395 . Shaun also ported a 395 for me and that thing is bad azz ! IMO his ported 395 has more balls . The 592 has been problem free for me . The 592 is a nicer saw to run verses a 395 . Unless you are milling or normally running a very long bar I would grab a 592 .

Thanks all. I toss around the idea of parting with my 3120 for a 592 possibly. I have a 50inch cannon parked on it, it's parked most the time. When it comes out it pays for itself, the weight though as I'm not getting younger. The best daily saws I'm running are my 500i and that Stumshot 572. I can do it all. That 3120 comes out for some giant cuts, but I almost need the bar mote than saw. I hate changing that bar out, so what it's on it probably will stay on. I thought about throwing that bar on my 2101 or my ported 390. But hey the 3120 is paid for:) my 390 is still a go to saw, but since getting that 500 and now 572, the 390 sits more. These new wave saws I'm really impressed power weight, and lack of vibration. The 390 imo is still very top shelf even today. But was curious mainly on the 585 592 feedback, fact that I haven't seen nor heard much about em.

I still like a good 390xp. Am I crazy to buy a 585 over a 592??? I kinda like the idea of the simplicity of a carb and being able to repair yourself easy. But less than $100 difference between the 2??? Hmm. Crazy I am maybe.

Are the 592/585 much different power-wise?
Stock for stock I would say they are very close in power. The 592 has a bit more torque, but the 585 seems to have great top end power and great torque also.
The 592 that @huskihl built is a completely different story tho.
That thing is on a whole different platform :flamethrower2:

So far here is MY quick take on the 592.

The good.

One of the strongest running stock saw I've had my hands on. Smooth, good weight for it's size, good value and it seems built robust overall, and I simply like how it feels. Instant acceleration, like a ported saw.

The bad.

The intake setup/wiring is 10 lb of s*** stuffed in a 5lb bag, bit of a pain to work on, especially compared to say a 395/390 or even the 661. Oil output sux IMHO. No lighter than a 661, some of the fasteners are aluminum, and one time use. The carb on mine leaks a little fuel on the pump side, the cap doesn't clamp enough. Bangs off the limiter like crazy. Overall quality is so so, and some parts look expensive.

Conclusion. It's a chainsaw, it will do what it needs to and likely do it extremely well. Nothing ground breaking, I probably prefer the 661, but that could change. I'll keep my ported 395 and 390, the 592 will be moving on.

Anything Kevin puts his hand to turns out to be a monster. I have two saws he did and they're both rockin'

That's a fair assessment Mr. A - what I saw in the 572 engineering-wise wasn't all that impressive over the 372, but a well-ported version might be a different story.

I had a nice 661 and it was a pretty sweet machine, but I'm hanging onto my quad-port Huskies.
