Very nice muff mod. Question for you I haven't tried it yet but I'm thinking about it but I'm wondering if you can use silver Souder for muffler mod deflectors?
Yes sir. It’s all I use.
Even built an entire pipe out of copper, all brazed joints.
Never had a failure.

For soldering steel we used 45% silver for a good seal/joint that would withstand heat, pressure vibration.
It is not cheap.
15% sylphos will work most times too.
With all solder get the parts clean and good flux.

I have 2 of those 4 mix motors on the bench.
They do not rev over 7500. Should be 10500.
Compression was 70psi on both, should be 90
Piston, bores, rings look fair so replaced rings.

Valves and seats look good and will hold mineral spirits in cylinder for hours with no leaking.

Cylinder pressure feels better but they only rev 8000.
Used 3 carbs, 1 rebuilt, 1 stock used and 1 new china carb.
All run the same, rich on the high.

Doing these as a favor but they are fighting me and cluttering up my bench.
About time to show them my hammer collection.

Try a coil. I never run mine much over 9k maybe. Always set them fat. Never had a problem. Bought used 101's. One needed a carb cleaning once. I hear horror stories, meh...

Used it on my high bread. Runs almost identical to an HD11.
Good question for @Mastermind

I know he drills every 461 carb he does. The last one I used was, for certain, a 58.

Perhaps they have changed at the factory?

This is an HD50 carb I got from CCC. I had to drill the jet.

Just to be clear to all, I’m using Tig Braze SilBronze, not a torch.

It flows better than standard filler and the metal can be joined with much less amperage.
