See those little dark spots and slashes on the squish band?

They’re little gouges that have accompanying gouges on the piston..

I wouldn't worry about that in the squish band but I'd want to know what made that damage. As Mike was saying pull the seals then check your bearings. I've seen a few that feel good till you pop the seals out.

Husky 350 2002 44mm was scored. Instead of cleaning up the cyl this time. I have a 45mm set from a 353 setting on the shelf.
The plastic intake clamp warped and killed it. Updated the partion and metal intake clamp.
Hadnt seen one these fuel filters.
Looks like it will be getting a new drum rim set up and worm gear. Also need presence lever, reason for tape holding spring down. Otherwise under the hood everything looked new and cared for.

This. I have unfortunately trusted the “feels good” test method and had to go back and tear the entire saw back down and replace the bearings. Lessons learned! Now anytime I do anything more than a basic tune-up I plan on and quote replacing bearings and seals. Better safe than sorry, especially if you have to eat a $200 top end

That’s a line trimmer fuel filter. I have 2 Echos right now with those exact same filters.

Cool. Guy certainly got his money's worth out of that drum. Lol
I wonder how many chains that drum saw?

Sometimes I wonder if they even ran bar oil at all. Had one come in like that. Oil tank was spotless. Guy didnt know about bar oil.

This one the tank had very clean bar oil film. But no fines etc in tank. Dont matter now.
Was traded in at a dealer in my group that sells them. I picked it up for a rebuild.

My next door neighbor dropped this hot mess off and said it wouldn’t run. I asked him when the last time he used it was and he said, “ last year, but it just suddenly stopped working and I couldn’t get it to restart.”

Muffler was pulled and there was some streaks on piston but had decent compression. Plug was white and gas was black. Carb was out 2.25 turns L and 1.5 H. Reset carb to factory and put in new gas mix and plug. Tried to pull over and it felt strange. Pulled the clutch cover and tried to rotate sprocket by hand. Met with resistance. Disassembly ensued. Come to find out while disassembling it was missing sprocket bearing, and clutch shoe was thrown from broken spring and broken retainer. It was also missing the oil pump protective washer. So, here’s what bar oil , plastic case material, brass shavings, and sawdust looks like all mixed together..... happy cutin’ fellas

So I just realized I’ve had this old Dolmar cut-off saw sitting under the bench for awhile. Cleaned it off a touch and found the model: 343. Never heard of a 343 so I googled it.......

Its a Dolmar 143! I have been searching for a 143 cyl for the 133 I picked up last year and I’ve had one sitting under the bench almost the whole time!!!!

I’ll see what other parts swap over as well

That F in funny. At least I know I’m not the only one that’s done that

Do you pull it down into the tank from the top, or up from the bottom, or does it not matter either way?
I've always pulled from the top, but I guess both ways will work.

Edit, I pull the hose the same direction as we always do, from the top and through the gas cap hole
Lol, another edit, two metal cramps is better then one to attach them together

I have a 14" pair of curved tip forceps for pullin the fuel line. The jaws pivot is placed right, it falls right at the gas filler neck so the jaw opening is not restricted so you can reach in and yank the hose thru and grab the filter thats rollin around in the tank.

I use a long curved dental pick to hook and pull the hose up to where i can grab it. I also have a long pair of surgical tweezers (12” from a cadaver kit) that are super handy but I try not to use those very much as they are very hard to replace.
