It’s TIG on stainless. Pure argon, 308 filler.

I figured it was a TIG weld. I have a little Hobart 140, so I make do with it and to be honest it does really well for what it is. I have successfully welded aluminum with it in the past, but that is a royal pain in the a$$ (buddy had the aluminum wire, gas setup and drive wheel so we used that as his drive motor had crapped out). Only complaint is the power settings need to be better adjustable.

I got the same one and your right it would be nice if it had more than 4 power settings.

Yep I run into the same issue with mine on thin stuff. 1 is too cold 2 is borderline hot.
Anything 3/16" or heavier welds really nice.

I have a similar machine, a Miller 130, and it’s the same thing with that. 4 power settings, and neither one seems to be the right one for mufflers. It’s either too cold, or it blows through very quickly if you’re not careful. I’ve started playing with brazing for mufflers, as I don’t have any TIG equipment. It ain’t purty, but it gets the job done. The same can be said about my welding, by the way. Lol

I wonder if a standard potentiometer can be swapped in for temp control. Maybe the exact same one used for the feed speed. Hmmmm off to google
