Once you have it finished with 2000 grit buff it like a paint job. Then wax it and treat it like a painted surface. It works good, and saves you some money.
I use a clear UV resistant acrylic (2 mist coats and a medium wet coat) over the 2000 swirl, then polish it and apply a wax. Has worked perfect on other headlights (2002 Forester and 2004 Forester XT). Tried and true, just this time the damn adhesion promoter failed. Its a bit old, so this time no adhesion promoter.
I already have this stuff on hand, so no additional cost
