Briggs used to pack a short (maybe 2 ft) remote throttle assembly with the 16hp Vanguards, or at least the first ones that I saw unboxed.
I used a lot of the solid core wires to make nice hooks for pulling fuel and oil lines up in saw tanks, etc. They were pretty danged stiff and springy.
Any customer that asked about where I got the hook , with the long "handle" and I'd usually hand it to them as a "door prize".
Gave a few to guys who were trying to make up a missing link for that Clinton motor or somesuch.
Old chain files where handy for making de-burring tools.
Those die cast (Zinc alloy?) rope pulleys for saws, were bad to have some ugly flashing down in the bottom of the rope grove where to rope hole was.
I'd take 3~4 old round files and use the chain grinder wheel to work a dimpled tip onto the file end.
Usually needed at least two different shapes to get into the rope hole and get the danged burr/flash trimmed out and shaped up with a proper -smooth- radius.
The tip of the file sort of resembles the bottom/back of the gullet on a chain tooth before you clean out the tooth shape.
