Dolmar CC. Its guide bar mount “pocket” is worn out. It allows the guide bar and clutch cover to ride up and down while in use. The machine still runs like a top so I’m going to implant a guide bar mount from the CX, it has additional support from the two machine screws not present in the CC. Looks like there’s plenty of meat on the back side of the case. That’s the plan anyway. image.jpg

Wow, love the illustrations on these older service manuals.
I really like the detailed spec sheets in that main saw manual. That alone was worth the price of the hard copy. Had my wife copy and OCR them, hence the pdf.

Today it's electronics, I don't know anything about it, but I will replace the belt 😉👍 The DVD hatch does not open although you can open it with a knife. Before the appropriate strap arrives, you can attach a rubber band

135 PSI for a PM700 is not bad, but it needed some cleaning.

See?

That's better...

Houston, we have a problem.

Replacing the seals, quick clean up of the cylinder. Piston is actually better than the photos would lead to you believe.

I'm in the middle of a piston/cylinder upgrade on the Shindaiwa 577, to a 680

Found an OEM Jug for a great price, and had to settle with a 680 LRB piston. Upon delivery, it had 1 circlip. $10 later, I get another set in the mail from LRB, but they're of a different design, and don't seem to fit in the groove.

Am I being picky about the fitment? Think these will hold? New clip set on the left

I don't like the looks of that at all. Doesn't look like it is in the grove enough to me at all

Ok glad I'm not trippin' for the fitment. Hopefully LRB can settle the score with me. I've been itching to get this 577/680 into some wood.
Started putting these 2 together today. 345 getting a dukes 346 cylinder and 395 coming back to life with a new set of dukes cases
The Dukes 346 kits are pretty solid! I've put together 5 or 6 of them, and the quality of each kit has been impressive for the cost. Hard to find an OEM 346 44.3mm kit for under $160 these days...

Do you modify the bearing cap much, other than the impulse groove?

This is the first one I have ever done. I ground it out to match the base gasket

Looks like you took the fins down on the plastic case too. If you gasket delete, the intake manifold can cause some resistance on the case, so I often take that down a mm or two.

You probably know about the metal intake clamp and muffler bracket, but they're essential for these 350's. I like to splurge for OEM muffler brackets, as the knockoffs are significantly thinner, and will break.

Other fun mods:
357/359 carburetor
357/359 air filter + holder (slight modification needed)
455/460 rancher clutch cover
455/460 rancher rim drive clutch drum

I have plenty of circlips, can send you a pair if needed.
11 or 12mm?

11mm

Think they'll work for a non-OEM piston? In my post above, I gauged the thickness of the clip
I have a couple of the 49mm LRB pistons so will check the pin size.
Older versions had the 11, later ones went to 12. Usually, aftermarket people use the latest version to copy.

I'm going to be contacting them tomorrow, so if they are unable to help, I'll definitely reach out

Little Red Barn is a fukking joke with shít parts and even shíttier customer service. This was their ms291 piston that had the ring ends in the intake port. After pics and several emails sent, those clowns just beat around the bush with excuse after excuse and then just stopped responding.

I hear lots of bad about them, but also some good. I sure hope the valves and valve guides I got from them for my kohler k161 will do fine. Sorry to hear that.
