Weatherby... .257 Weatherby Magnum...mounted and boresighted a Vortex 30mm, 6-24x50. Badlands Approach camo, Burnt Bronze Cerakote on all the metal goodies, 26” bbl. An absolute speed demon that hits deer and hogs and drops ‘em right where they stand. This is my third Weatherby in this caliber, have two more in Vanguard Sporter S2’s with Turkish Walnut stocks...crazy round that just folds anything on the receiving end of it...like a freight train!

Outstanding post...Great cartridge! Last Montana antelope hunt my dad and I were on. You would have swore he needed a Wyoming permit for the buck he got with his .257. Thing hunched it up and dropped it where it stood. First time and only person I've seen someone make a clean one shot kill at 500+. No bipod but he had a good rest on a old fence post/windmill leg.
I'm glad he estimated his range instead of his buddy that was spotting him. Had he listened to his buddy he would have gotten nothing but belly hair. Hats off to the ol man on that. Knows his stuff and is one hell of a marksman.
When I was still single and cool, friends and I would play around with ranges out to 1200. But thats with a rest and ideal conditions. Anything in the field and in full gear beyond a few hundred is pretty impressive in my book.
Wish I still had some of my big iron and distance guns. Never should have sold them.
