Here’s some more on that Solo Twin. Somewhere along the line someone broke off a bolt in one of the four “ears” on the crankcase used to secure that side cover. I didn’t take pics early on, while the drilling was going on (over two days) because I was more worried about a horrible fail, if you know what I mean. Here’s some pics of the downhill side and the finish. It’s what I call a “Happy Ending”D447CBD7-4DB8-4279-805C-B8DF161235C7.jpeg

I’ve been a busy boy on this Solo. Here are some pics of it’s fuel tank after a repair I made. Again, no before pics, prolly was too focused on getting it done.
I “welded” the splits and cracks using a really hot soldering gun. I used shavings from another donor Solo tank as filler along the way. The cracks were ginormous, the worst being almost 1/8” wide in the middle. I heated both sides up until it got “clear” and then mixed it up together, using filler when necessary. The tanks were incredibly thick in the areas that were cracked, so there was plenty of material available to drag over and use (after melting it). 88776129-CCBE-4B1B-8AFF-115C9EF46C61.jpeg 0151693E-5D6B-457C-873B-7D876574AFC8.jpeg Practiced on the donor tank crack and it held gas so I moved on to the important one. It took a few tries and checks after but I finally got em’.
Not leaking.

Tank is almost full of gasoline (not mix) and no leaking.

I’m seriously contemplating this color for a saw like this? Should I do it?

Unfortunately, that's a common issue with these Solo twins. I've got a complete 100cc saw and a parts saw and the tank on my parts saw has a similar split.

The plastic they used for the tanks gets very brittle.

I’m seriously contemplating this color for a saw like this? Should I do it?

I think that would look great. I've got some old Pioneer 700/750s and I'm going to do one in a similar color but maybe in one of the "Chameleon" variants.

I also have a ugly 7-10 Mcculloch that I might do this color with black clutch cover, air filter cover and outer starter housing.

It's another SP-125, this one is bored .030" over (Saw-King bored the jug before he sold his Sunnen hone) and has a NOS 101AA .030" over "quick-time" piston.

It runs pretty good so far but I'll probably chop up a tank for it and install a V-4 Sloper intake manifold with the Horstmann "V-Max" reed cage and a Tillotson
HL-334 carb.

Sounds like a good plan! You going to go over the swap?

424A7676-D8FE-4DBB-A521-5B7C0F350A8A.jpeg **note to self** NEVER EVER run this saw with the clutch cover on unless there is a bar & chain installed. I could hear it was too noisy and I just sat there on my butt and watched it. Been a long day and up to now a productive one.

it didn’t cut completely thru, thank God. But it cut really deep.

Pulled it apart and found leaky gasket. Cleaned/oiled everything as needed. Decided to clearance the case on the PTO side even though it wasn't an issue but the jug did seem awful close to the case so now it won't be. Gonna skim coat the gasket and bolts with sealer, put it together and pray!

Is that just a bit of sealer in the hole, on the flywheel side forward/front bolt hole or are the threads a little funny?
Bear in mind that my eyes are goofy now, so sometimes the digital photos can look strange to me.
