I timed the 066 jug w/o a base gasket, and I like the #s, Ex 98, Tr 122 In 80.5, but the squish is about .010, so I will need to sand the squish band.

Not bad #s for a stock jug … w/Meteor piston.
066 have always had the numbers you're looking for that's why they run stronger than the ms660 get you're squish around . 19 .21 and you'll have a grin ear to ear. :aplastao:

Yup, I'm going to sand the squish a bit and widen the top of the exhaust a bit and leave the rest of it like it is! (maybe remove a pit of slag I see in the transfers with a diamond ball).
are you holding out on picks of the cylinder MustangMike? Hummmm? :comp4:

No pics, my work is not that pretty, but I did port the cylinder today, and the muffler/gasket, and Picked up the parts (piston pin clips) and will post later.

These new ring clips are tough, I launched 2 of them into outer space, have not done that in a while! (maybe they are still in the basement, but where???)

A magnet is your friend for sure. Easy way to find small metal parts.

OK, so the squish was tighter than the solder initially indicated, so this saw is getting a base gasket. As a result, I lowered the intake a bit to make up for the gasket, + a little! Also, I checked the upper transfer by looking through the spark plug hole while shining the light in the exhaust port and got a more accurate reading. Here are my final #s: Sq .020, Ex 97, Tr 123, In 83.

You asked for Pics: Lowering the Intake, Sanding the Squish Band, Widening the top of the exhaust (both sides, hard to see), Degree Wheel with pointer.

353 G - year 2003. Got new seals, hoses, filter, plug and a OE top end.
Timings: IN77, TR 125, EX 107.

Unfortantly front handle bar was toasted, ie, damage on the heat element, gotta borrow from another saw.

You gonna be busy for awhile...

Still working on two 372s, two 55s and a couple small Husqys. I HATE waiting on parts

Oh, yeah, I just finished the 340->353 build, filled the lower transfer pocket in the cyl base extension and beveled them to around 45* to feed the lower transfers. Made about 10 cookies and it stopped oiling, the plastic oil pump melted. That saw SCREAMS! Who says 353 top ends don’t rev-up???
