Has anyone tried to fit a newer style clutch cover with external (not on inside of bar) bar adjuster on a Husqy 51/55?

Working on a 51 that is in excellent condition but previous owner tightened down the bar without adjustment stud properly aligned and broke the case.

I was going to clean up the break and epoxy it, hoping to convert to an outside or external adjuster like the newer saws.

I busted up 2 cutter bits for my boring bar trying to cut the squish band on a meteor jug.
Never again will I cut the squish on a jug with a plated squish band......never.
Yea i here you on that pop up piston is a great idea for the cylinders that have a heavy cote on the squish band that's for sure.

Got the 192t finished in under my 24 hour goal! Took three tries getting it right though! Never make those mistakes again! It got a good cleaning, new OEM piston, muffler mod and timing advance. Will fire it up tomorrow and see how she runs. I found it was leaking at a corner of the base. If she runs good ill be selling the new 193t I have.

Real slick

Thank you! I was worried about losing velocity because those transfer tunnels are HUGE but it has crank stuffers, so I think it will be ok.

The intake is super tight, only able to widen it about 0.125 on each side. Hopefully thats enough. Have to start on exhaust tomorrow and check the upper transfer numbers. I know they need to go up about 0.019 to match the BGD, see if they need to go up more or not. Going to start off bringing the exhaust up about 3* degrees i think. Others have gone up a bunch more but i don’t want to lose torque.

If a guy were to just run it as is, the extra plating isnt a bad thing, is it? I suppose it's of no benefit, but wont present a problem?
Theoretically, heat transfer is less. So one might expect less needed compression needed for same combustion efficiency.

Will likely turn less rpm than a bare chamber.

There’s a reason the oem doesn’t plate the chamber.

I was gonna guess that they wanted to save five cents.

Costs more to plate and finish blind jugs. Has to be a reason, and it cant be squish clearance because they could easily achieve that with their base finishing.

Has to do with power, emissions and fuel consumption IMHO.

One of my tree guys gave me a nice 066 round top parts saw today. Ironically, he got it from the brother of another Tree Guy I fix saws for, but I don't know the brother.

It is all apart, and looks like the crank and top handle are missing. The piston is burned on the Ex side, and the transfer needs to be cleaned from the cylinder, but the cylinder looks gorges!!! The tank handle has been repaired with electrical tape, but all the controls are there, and all the bolts and screws are missing.

I'm shocked what is still there … recoil, carb, coil, chain adjuster and brake hardware and brake handle and plastics (with badges)!

HL Supply just had them (Asian 660s) on sale yesterday, if I'd have known this was coming!!!

I just checked it over quickly, the burned piston looks like a KS to me (has wings), but the cylinder just says Stihl. I think it has the best transfers and ports of any 066/660 I have seen. Dying to time it and see what the #s are.

I also plan to pull the control lever, trigger, etc and compare it to an Asian 660 to see if I can do some mods to the Asian saws to get high idle to work right.

But right now, I'm not doing anything! Got a pinched nerve in my right leg and I can barely walk. Excruciating pain if I even try to bend over to pick something up. Hope this clears up fast, hunting season is still open and it is just not like me to not be able to do things … it is killing me!
