Got a 192t freebie from my dealer. Came in with a scored piston. New OEM piston was $19.99! Doing a pressure and vac test now before I remove the cylinder. Hoping to have it back together by morning so i dont forget what goes where! Lol!

I busted up 2 cutter bits for my boring bar trying to cut the squish band on a meteor jug.
Never again will I cut the squish on a jug with a plated squish band......never.
40 grit on a mandrel gets rid of most it it pretty quick

The plating was at least .015" thick. I actually tried grinding through it in a couple spots with a double cut burr and it hardly made a dent. That cylinder almost went for a flight test several times. Grrrrr.
If I ever mess with another one of those jugs it will get a pop up piston.

Never had one that thick. I've had one chatter the jug loose in the lathe before. Got lucky that it was on the first .010" pass. I figured I just fed it too fast.
I almost went for the tannerite

40 grit will take a lot out in a hurry. I liked putting he mandrel in the large and holding the jug by hand.
Got some wooden sanding mandrels that I put in the benchtop drill press. Had a couple get away from me on the lathe once the dust packed in and about took a sausage off.:D. Not much room between the ways and corner of a cylinder lol

I always just pushed flat and when it bound I didn’t have a grip. I figured out quick you can’t hold it if the lathe wants it

Not in a meteor fellas. Other AM jugs, even the plated ones, cut easily with a carbide cutter. The meteor made me think I had something wrong on the lathe.

Take a look at the edge of the plating where the chamber hits the band. I had to grind that edge by hand with a diamond ball. It has to be at least .o25 in the chamber. Likely less elsewhere because of honing.

If you want one, I’d be glad to ship one to ya. A variation on the “Flight test” Mike speaks of.

Lol. I have one here but the saw hasn't showed up yet. I don't thing the few I've done had plating nearly as thick as what you're talking about. That sounds like a bear
