I kill a few bunnies. Most of the time I just let the dogs run 'em. One day a year we have a money hunt and try to limit out. Its a family hunt and a load of fun. This was last year.

The tool can work and without password so you can buy the tool and use it , just try to find the latest edition when you buy theese tools
password have only the dealers if you have good relations with your dealer he will give his password
password you need if the factory make updates to a machine saw, trimer, etc no other reason
the husqy diagnostic and the stihl mdg1 is only tools for informations they cant repair problems

100$ as a starter i will leave the saw for him , here a full rebuild cost about 60 euros so you go to a stihl with a saw in parts and you leave with a full saw for 60 euros
did a call to Husky , autotune diagnosic tool are only sold to dealers, the newest version demand login and online transfer through the database system to Husky
This is also something spike60 mention on AS. Quite easy to understand why they want to have it this way.

Price tag on 550 top end Norway, around 345€, or 387$.
the jug will come from somewhere else then Norway :)

Have had this large Dolmar on the bench on and off their week. Top end rebuild after Vac/Pressure test , muffler mod to keep it cooler and good general going over on the 9010 .
Service on the Stihl FS Photo0734.jpg Photo0735.jpg Photo0733.jpg Photo0732.jpg 76 light brush cutter....like this older model ..has a really good power to weight ratio.

That comfurms what I to have been told when making enquires ....I will struggle to do the diagnostic work on the auto tune saws because of the "Dealer Only" situation in the UK.
I would assume Husqvarna don't want 1 man bands like me working on there new stuff .

Can't do that around here anymore ,to many hawks. The ones that are left are smart. Last time I rabbit hunted was with a Falconer. We had a bunny in a brush pile that we could see. We jumped up and down on that pile and that rabbit still wouldn't flush.

dont know how complicated autotune program will be in the future, but I belive it's to get rid of hobby mechanicers like you and me.
The old system can be used but people doesnt get the update for new AT flash and so on and probleby more advanced programming.
I can actually understand them, if this system should be wide open for clowns like me it would be a nightmare on long run for them.
Making online system Husky will always know what the dealer did with any AT work plus they will collect lots if info as well.

But, I will figure out cost price for resetting and AT update, if it's kinda cheap it doesnt really mather.

The few guys I know that hunt rabbits have said the same thing. I was baling last year and seen a hawk grab one and fly away. Also the coyotes.

As yet i don't have any customers who have asked me to look at any Auto Tune saws but i suppose there will come a time . We are a bit later in the UK compared with the USA with M- tronic and Auto tune ...in reality 2012-2013 was the start even though there were a few around before . A few Tree surgeons had some early 550 560 or the 261 , but they aren't that common even now. I just don't like the thought of having to turn work away because of the inability to go through the electronic side of the saws and allow my customers to go to the competition if there a authorised dealer. Time will tell i guess.

After having dismantled my first 550xpg ever, I have to admit they are really beautiful made, far easier then I expected. Not sure how strong the crank are on them though, never like when I see a blown crank.
550 XPG, I've worked with 2xx and 3xx G saws in the last years, 550 G has the best wiring system of them all.

Pulled the 394 apart to check the intake block for cracks. It's been finicky on the mill lately. Found a carbon like smear on the cyl which I cleaned up. Also cleaned up the exhaust port and re-beveled.

Hum...that looks "Unhealthy " !
Piston scored and smeared all the way round or just the exhaust mostly ? That cylinder wasn't loose on the case was it or is that crack line in the crud something else ?

Just exhaust as far as I can see.
Have not pulled it down yet.

Will post pics when I do

Very wet on the inside (rofl). Using up a bunch of Husky XP mix I had @ 40:1.
About the blow by... that's why I asked about the .016 rig gap. Compression is still ridiculous. I tried getting a number with the carb off but I couldn't pull it more than 1 rev with the decomp out. Should I re-ring it?

EDIT: (add pic) cylinder cleaned up, looks fine.
