Installing the parts from the early tank I sold. To the newer updated tanks I like. Also checking for leaks.

Can we finally do more then 5 pics at a time here now? Cool if so because when it double posted above that was 10.

Got this in today didn't know who's it was at first it was on my porch when i got home from work.
50/1 stihl oil the guy's dad stopped by and told me.
Just needs refreshed piston kit seals lines etc.
One of the filthiest saws i've worked on.
Pressure washed the piss out of it.20181030_135553.jpg 20181030_152547.jpg 20181030_152526.jpg 20181030_161031.jpg 20181030_160609.jpg

Did some port work on the clone blue I'm not going to show much there's something that I do that is one of my favorite things I like to do and works well so sorry if it bugs anyone but if I shared everything then it would be a secret. Lol but here's a couple pics. I raised the intake a smigg and did brig port's on this cylinder the transfers were Same size as the 064 so a brig port will help and the exhaust I did not open it up as much as I normally would but it's still a good amount larger. I've got a hunch that this will be my strongest saw on my shelf for running large bars and chains. IMG_20181031_101949.jpg IMG_20181031_082151.jpg

Ok, so my garage is a complete wreck, but I do have a few interesting saws on the bench or in the on-deck circle.

On the actual bench is a Echo Evil Twin (CST 610EVL) that I'm parting out.

Also on the bench is a very clean 041G that I just got in on a trade. That one will get a basic clean-up and will stay here. I look forward to using it. I also have the parts necessary to turn it into an 041 Super; that would be nice if I end up running 1/2" chain on it...

And to the right, in the on-deck circle (on top of my tool cart) is a very elusive beast - Jonsereds 110 - that's the predecessor to the 111/111S. Apparently a one year only saw. Magnus is going to wet himself when he sees it.

In the box on the stool is a sand cast Contra. Uber rare; got lucky on finding it. It will get cleaned up and put back into running condition.

I find the only screws that loosen on a 550/562 are the oil pump screws, bucking spike screws and the lower pto side muffler screw for whatever reason. I decided not to mod the oiler while I was in there because the saw oils a 24 pretty good as is.

I use a Blue Bottle!!! Just find that it works better. Don't care what brand of saw you are building, every now and then one will develop harmonics that just make the screws come loose, and the Blue Bottle just works better! They still come out if you need them to. Use it on almost everything except bar nuts and carb nuts.

I also made some progress on that 066 tonight. The existing (broken) tank handle was difficult to remove, ended up popping out two isolators on the one side to make it easier.

Could not get the AM trigger assembly to function like I wanted, so transferred the trigger, trigger lock, spring and control lever from the 066 handle to the AM 660 handle. A lot of work, but I think the guy is going to like it when it is done.

Hope to get it running tomorrow and off my bench if I get the time. Also have to deliver some wood if it is not raining. The weather is nuts. Had a real hard frost yesterday morning, and today it was 69 degrees in the afternoon, and I'm wearing a T shirt! Hope hunting weather returns soon!

That is blue loctite Mike. Just a special version of 242 blue that is a touch stronger and sets easier on contaminated surfaces (surface insensitive). Screws still come out if needed.

Makes my head hurt that blue Loctite comes in a red bottle. And red Permatex comes in a blue bottle. It seems like color coding the bottle to match the product would reduce confusion and prevent mistakes, but what do I know?

Yea, I was referring to the Bottle, and I think the Blue Bottle is the stronger stuff. Thanks for the clarification.

I started using the stronger stuff after I had a 460 that I did for a Tree guy spit the muffler bolts 3 times in a month. They were super tight, with the regular Loctite, and it kept spitting them! The Heavy Duty stuff cured the problem.

I use stainless lock washers on the exhaust bolts and anywhere I can get away with them. I had an issue with an 056 where the loctite kept coming loose.
