How many of you guys have removed a fuel tank from a 3\4 wrap heated handle 661? Not easy.
Yeah they are not fun I thought,

Of course after only doing one I do not have much practice either lol

Also I am impressed with that 8 pin performance!

It's not easy to work on, 441 comes to mind but even it is easier to get the handle bar off of.

I've rebuilt a couple 441s.... and while they are not easy, it appears to be easier than a 661.

My 044 is easy along with the dolmar.

About 15mins and the jug is off

Getting the tank off isn't hard once you disconnect the wrap handle and pop out the foam AV bushings. The wrap handle is a beach to get off the first time though.

Did not do so much today, eventually I put this bottom part together:

I gotta start to hunt after those chain covers and chainbrake handles, all my 262's miss them, and there wasn't so many 3 shoe clutches I could use either.
I'll probleby drill up the hole to the fuel line so those old tanks are the same as the new ones if Husky still have that part avaible....

Had 3 calls to local dealers today, they had no projects :(

Tor R,
There are some aftermarket 3 shoes on Ebay. I cannot comment on their durability. Oem are expensive since it was the only saw to use it. A think some one has fitted 357/359 clutch.

thanks for the idea, that may work.
The threads are the same, I used 262 service tools when I put the last 357 bottom part together, gone check out 357 vs 262 clutch today.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
Got an MS250 C on my bench that the customer complained about not starting and it was running recently. Well, since he put bar oil in the fuel tank I think I found the issue of why it won't start. So, new carb, fuel line, and filter with a good tank flushing and it should be a runner again.

I got bored and bought this white top 50 to rehab. Its in decent shape but gotta clean the pine tar off it. P&c need replacing, got a NOS 50 piston coming for it as well as a OEM cylinder. Hopefully thats all. image.jpeg image.jpeg I had a later model 50 in excellent shape that I sold recently, this one fits my style!!!!
