Well I made some headway on the 2 man saw today. I took it to the carwash and hosed it down. I got the carb cleaned and installed,
worked on my frayed plug wires with some tape to build up where they had cracked then heat shrink them. I got a new petcock for the tank and some where
I read that someone use a couple of hand full of nuts in there tank to remove the corrosion. Let me tell you it works I put them in the tank and sprayed
about a half can of brake cleaner in it and shook it like a maraca for a half hour, clean as a whistle. Thanks to whom ever wrote that helpful hint.
I made 3 sets of gaskets for the exhaust manifold and got them installed. It's amazing what you can learn about something by taking it apart.
I didn't no anything about this saw until yesterday. Found a grease zert underneath the saw I think it greases the magneto gear that comes off the crank?
Got the clutch freed up now I can spin the drum, and got the oiler on the helper handle working also.

I look forward to retiring myself one day also we are the same age my friend.
I changed directions on what I want as far as a collection goes. I have plenty of fire wood saws so when I come across them now they get flipped.
When I run across a old saw I have to Keep my CAD medication close at hand.

Next to my bench at the shop, Oregon
An 044 Magnum that I rebuilt is sitting there. New piston, cylinder, head gasket, crank seals, carb kit, fuel line, filter, and plug. Also sharpened the chain. Tune it up and let it idle for awhile on Saturday. Gonna fire it up again today and make sure it's good to go back home.

Day 3 2 man saw update.
I made a gasket for the magneto, mounted the tank, and got it running for a few minutes.
The starter crapped out before I got it tuned. Talk about putting a bring grin on your face, this saw sounds like a funny car.
Anyone know any hints to tune this model. It's got the Tillotson AJ13A. also some other stuff I'm not sure of maybe the timing advance
or governor behind the starter. I love to pick someone's brain that know these saws.20160321_201204.jpg 20160321_201228.jpg 20160321_201254.jpg 20160321_201327.jpg

Not sure Mike I didn't want to spec them all to find out. Probably one out there would work but the saw was just purchased used from a saw shop that may be under their warranty.

Go to SH and shoot Herman Tinker a PM. He is from the Colorado area I believe and is quite knowledgable on those saws.
Also look up 8433jeff (SH guy also). I know he had a old Disston that he got running a few years back.

I have a 101 sitting in my garage that I picked up a year or so ago. In hopes to looking at it some day. I am not sure if that day will ever come. I'm guessing it'll either become just a wall hanger or if I'll let it go someday to someone who will get it going.

Just pretty much finished off a refurbished 084. Love firing them up for the first time after a rebuild. [emoji16][emoji16]
And now onto the other end of the spectrum; the eBay special never ran 181. Poor thing never stood a chance with me lol

Closely followed by. Husky 394 that came without rings. Wondered why it lacked comp!!

It started easily. And runs nice and crisp. Will chuck a bar on it today and load it up a bit. The plastics are really badly hammered from the sun but it's what's under the covers that's important. [emoji6][emoji1360]
