Jonsered 2040. I built this saw a year or better ago. I used it just a little but haven't had enough wood to really use it. I know when I built it, ine issue was it didn't oil the best. So I did a few modifications on the oiler. I pulled off the self yesterday and there was a big puddle of bar oil under it. Now I need to figure out where the leak is. :confundio1:

I had my hybrid back on the bench today. Tried starting today for the first time and I broke the elastostart. Rewound the starter with new rope and put a D handle on.

Finally got it started. L side rough tuned easily. H side is giving me some issues. I've got the H screw out at least 2 turns and still no sign of 4 stroking. I was getting a head ache from all the piss reving and gave up for the day.
Here's my hybrid again but this time the filter is oiled up and the D handle is on itimage.jpeg

Before the conversion the saw ran great. The carb may need a kit but I'm leaning more towards the metering lever needs adjusting or the jet needs to be drilled out.
Any tips on adjusting the metering lever? Down is richer and up is leaner???

Bending it down will be leaner or bending it up will be richer. I think!! Lol!! If u bend the metering lever up would mean the diagram pin would contact it quicker and raise the needle sooner for more fuel

Low side is at about 1 1/4 - 1 1/2. The saw idles great. I haven't tried it in any wood yet. I was just wanting to get it rough tuned and then I'll fine tune it in wood

I made a beer can base gasket and coated it on the top and bottom with permatex 518. before I installed the cylinder.
The intake boot was nice and soft and went on/in easily. I don't think I ripped it but you never know. I'll have to check it out.

Thanks guys

you sure have cleaned it up good, looking really good!
OEM jug you plan to put on?

I was able to clean the original cylinder up pretty good, well good enough to warrant a try with e new Meteor piston anyway. I can still see some shadow in the cylinder, but nothing I can feel with a fingernail. I figure it's worth a try, and if it doesn't work out I'm only out the cost of a Meteor piston and I'll get a new complete OEM P&C kit.

Thanks for the compliment on my cleanup. It sure has come around nicely from what it looked like when I first got it. I'm very pleased with how well it cleaned up. Hope my 394 does the same when it's her turn on the bench. :)

I'll try and find some rubber and pressure/vac test it. Before I play with the carb. Hopefully I can do it tonight. I think I know where an old inner tube is. Thanks for the tips guys
Did u take the carb apart by chance? Ive left plates on them loose before that will make the saw cut up crazy
